So I am getting code 22 and I checked to see where my sensor is and it looks like I dont even have one. Is that even possible? My engine runs fine but I heard that it wont run unless you have this sensor. I have an 87 GT that was converted over to MAF. Is it possible that I dont have a sensor or is it some where else in the engine compartment?

it should be on the firewall just behind your intake manifold. it could have been relocated to under the cowl panel, or maybe even in the fender. the car will run without the MAP hooked up, but fuel/timing calculations will be "safe" rather than optimum.

JIC, this is what it looks like: View attachment 432864

if it has been removed entirely, find the connector for it (behind the intake), purchase a new one and hook the connector to it. the vacuum port on the MAP should be connected via a vacuum hose that hooks to a vacuum tube on the back underside of your intake.

Tengram covered that well

All I would like to add is that it seems fairly common in a MAF swap to leave this sensor hooked up as a MAP.
The MAF computer is looking for Baro pressure, so leaving this sensor hooked to a manifold vac source will confuse the crap outta the puter.

Good Luck,
jason

is this the connector??

thanks, i missed the part about his vehicle being converted to MAF...definitely want to leave that vac port on the MAP "open to atmosphere", not hooked to intake vacuum.

1fatpony, that is the connector in your picture.

okay thanks guys for the info. Ill go to the juckyard tommorow to see if I can find one of those sensors. Will it matter which one I get? as long as the vaccum port is open to the atmosphere?

you got it, no difference as long as you leave the vac port open. let us know how it goes:flag:
