so i just installed my x pipe. put new pass side gasket on also. on my driver side there is a massive leak. the pass side is fine tho. any idea? i thought it was just bolt on? the pass side doesnt have a gasket im aware of. any help would be great!!
did the x pipe come with a metal insert? if so use it that might be the problem. mine does the same thing but mine does it cuz i cant get mine all the way tight.
yes.. yes it did haha i was wondering what it was for. its terriable though. i drove home from my friends garage 15-20 miles and my x pipe was ice cold when i got in my driveway haha and now im wondering if i put that new gasket on right!! AH. i hate exhaust. i wanna take it somewhere but i hate not doing stuff to my car myself. but i guess sometimes you gotta take it to the people who do it for a living
MY best advice is to get the d/s positioned and snug (not tight but snug) then go to the pass side. Get it snug then put the rear bolts on the cat back. Snug those up (again, not tight). Then go back up to the d/s and double check your position on the flange (ensure proper coverage of the ball and socket joint) and tighten it down, move to the pass side and tighten, finally tighten the rears up too.
I find it best to put a jack under the x or h part and jack the mid pipe up to where it should be (I don't use the hangers, never have) that way you can ensure proper alignment and a leak free pipe from the get go.
