89 Mustang GT-gray interior

Hello

I need to replace my scuff/sill plates. I ordered the smoke gray color which are for 87-89 gray interiors. Went to install them and they are much darker than the original plates. Original plates match the rest of the interior perfectly. Why am I having an issue?

You may have Titanium grey. LMR should have paint to match

The door tag states PG which is Smoke cloth.

The difference could be 28 years of interior fade. Colors won't match perfectly. Even reproduction black parts didn't match my OEM black interior perfectly which drove me nuts.
