just a question for anyone out there with suggestions. i have a 99 35th ann. mustang. i put on a procharger stage 2 kit along with full exhaust and whatnot. i recently had my car dyno tuned by larocca with a pretty conservative and safe tune. as i was pulling my car into the garage a little while ago i heard a tapping coming from the drivers side head. it increased with rpms. it runs just fine but you can hear that tapping as you drive. i pretty much immediately took it to the dealer to see what was up. they called back the other day and said its blown...5100 bucks. now can someone tell me whats up here.. i dont think there is any need to replace the whole motor. theres just a tapping from the driver side head. could someone please help me out here, maybe give me an idea of what could be going on. i would really appreciate it. maybe point me in a few directions of what i could do or where i could go. if it helps the numbers on the car were 385 rwhp and 405 ft lbs. any help would be awesome, thanks!!

#1. Never trust a dealer. Ever.

#2. Take it someplace that does engine work. Can you get back to Larocca's? Blown engines are usually damaged sufficiently that you TOW them to the dealer.

#3. A tapping in the valvetrain area could simply be a lifter that hasn't pumped up causing a little chatter. You need better diagnostic data before whipping out the checkbook.

#4. Refer to #1.

any other suggestions??

just have to find someone who does performance, and knows 4.6's. and that doesn't mean a regular joe blow mechanic or a dealer. Find someone to make sure it's a thrown rod or not for that matter. If it's not then your in luck and it's probably a lifter or something in your heads. Best bet is, since you have a blower, you probably threw a rod and that's what is causing the knock. If thats the case, go with a 32v or a rebuilt bottom end and go forged, that way you can up your boost and get more out of your blower and not worry about throwing rods. This of course is depending you have the money, good luck.
