Me and my cousin both had the Ram HDX clutch on my 96 GT
and on his 92 LX.
We both had a reputable transmission shop install are clutches.
The torque specs were to the tee,the clutch was aligned properly,
and are clutch cables were adjusted correctly.
We used all new bearings including new TOB and used brand new
flywheels,We also did a 1K break in where we were easy on the
clutch. The clutch discs failed on both of our cars.The Ram clutches
lasted 5K miles on my cousins 92 LX and 7K on my 96 GT.
These Ram clutches are simply crap and I would never get one again.
I also heard alot of horrible things about the Spec clutches.
My Centerforce DF clutch has lasted for 11K miles now without
any problems and I would get one again.

You claimed you knew Jim Fitzgerald and said he died a while back, you told ninjastang125 you hope his valve springs bend, and you are the only person I've ever heard say something negative about a Ram clutch. I am not insulting you, I just don't think you have much credibility.

OP has a relatively stock Mustang, and arguably does not have enough HP/TQ to require an expensive high end clutch. Any stock replacement be it an OEM clutch, Spec stage 1, FRPP HD/King Cobra, or a Ram HDX will be more than sufficient for his car. Not only that, it sounds like he is not interested in spending high dollar for a clutch that he doesn't need at his current power level.

I have a few bolt ons and do a few passes down the track now and again. I just went with a Cobra clutch. I like it a lot.

re the FRPP King Cobra clutch: Keep in mind that if you're talking about the M-7560-C302N clutch that it's intended for T-5 and T-45 cars. Its disc is 10.5-in vs 11-in for TR3650-equipped 2002- GTs and Machs and the disc splines won't match the 3650's input shaft.

I replaced the clutch on my GT a while back (bad OE TB bearing) with a Luk OE-style unit and it's fine, even with the blower. I'm still on 245-series tires and am traction limited anyway and this clutch feels and acts like stock and preserves the best virtues of OE.

Well, the prices given were for a 10.5" clutch, not the 11" you need for your 02. If you're planning on staying stock, slap you in an OE Replacement Clutch & don't look back.

Ponyup1 - I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience with RAM. Failures do happen, no matter what brand or type of part you deal with. I am curious to know if you allowed RAM or the company you purchased the clutches from the opportunity to help you out after the clutch failures. Since we've been carrying RAM clutches, we've only experienced 4 failures, to my knowledge. 2 were installation errors & all 4 were taken care of by RAM without question.

Yah I don't know about mods at this point. This car was supposed to SAVE me money coming from my big ass truck. lol. I'll definitely just stick with a stock clutch

Good choice, my stock clutch lasted 135K miles. Installed and broken in correctly, you should get similar life out of whatever replacement you choose
