Melbourne area stangs

Yeah, I am taking about my convertible AOD. I hope its nothing internal or I will be one pissed off person. This is brand new top of the line AOD, cost over $2k just for the trans. I really hope its just a linkage problem becuase I do not want to take it out and ship it back to them. The convertible is going to have to sit in the garage until I hear from them :(

No joke, I could of bought a viper T56 and be about equal to what I spent on my AOD. Well it is about 1:40 now and I still have not recieved a reply to my email from them about my problem, it is time for a phone call.

Damnit man, I hope it all works out for you.

BTW, I'm not sure if I told you guys yet but the day after my dad's coupe went into the autotrader it sold or 11,500 (and he's still getting phone calls all the way from cali!) Now a 2000 s10 extreme took it's place. Just thought i'd let you guys know. ;) :(

Oh yeah, my door handle broke yesterday too!!! That pissed me off and my mom now understands why I want something to drive everyday. So, she agreed to co-sign a loan for me to get an 95-up s10 after I get job and hold it for atleast a month. hehe. While i'll have this week. :)

too bad they never put performance into the Xtremes...but I saw a guy at the track running like a mofo with some nitrous in his 4.3 GMC Sonoma...and someone else with a S10...they ran each other, they seemed to know each other well if they weren't Father/Son.

Well I talked to them. The stalling problem is just a charateristic of the full manual valve body and me having a lock up converter. Since I have a ratchet shifter on my car I can't bring the shifter to park or reverse as quickly as my old one. So once I ratchet into the 3rd gear spot while I am on my way up to R or P it kills the car instantly. Its just like a manual trans, you can't keep your car if 3rd if you are moving really slow or you will stall out. This kind of sucks, I bought the Hammer shifter so I wouldn't accidentaly shift into the wrong gear, now I may have to go back to the stock one if I want this stalling to end. Thats the price you pay when you put a racing trans in a non race car.

On to the second and more serious problem of having no second gear. I talked to their tranny tech and he suggested that it might be a linkage problem which was my first thought. He said to take off the linkage and try to shift the trans manually just to make sure that I really have a second gear. If I find that I have one I will be happy and then I will adjust my shifter linkage. If I find I don't have one they will send me a new valve body.

I will need to use one of my lifts at my work tomorrow to see if I can shift it manually while someone up top controls the acceleration. So hopefully by tomorrow I will have my verdict.

BTW, whats up with everyone wanting to get S10s now

That's good, I hope your problems are only minor then such as the linkage.

Forget to mention I'm keeping the mustang, I'll just fix it up over time and it'll stay parked in my mom's garage until I got the truck paid off, since I wouldn't be able to afford insurance on 2 vehicles. :)

My dad is all done with racing, that's another reason the mustang went. Plus he needed a truck for work. :nice:

Thats good that you are still keeping the mustang. How much more would it of been to insure both. I have my hatchback down as my primary car and I have my convertible as my extra car. I only have to pay $65 a month for full coverage on my convertible since it is listed as an extra car. Its a damn good deal if you ask me. You might want to look in on setting up your 89 as an extra vehicle on your policy.

Buwhahahahahhahahahaha! I just got off the phone with her. She called just a few minutes after I posted that. Too bad we didn't have time to get a pool going. I mighta made some good money...:D

Thanks for remembering my birthday

Well I found out my problem. I tried manually shifting my tranny and guess what, I have a second gear. Which now goes onto the second problem. My damn $200 hammer ratchet shifter does not move my linkage far enough forward or backwards to put the trans in second gear. I tried adjusting it down at the trans but to no prevail I can't get it to move the linkage far enough to make it shift into 2nd. My B&M hammer shifter worked correctly on my old AOD and unless PA made 1st to 2nd gear and 3rd to 2nd gear farther apart, I just don't understand why it won't work. I don't even think my old stock shifter would work on it. I guess I will have to call Performance Automatic agian and ask what they think. Or maybe call up B&M and ask them why their shifter does not work with my AOD. I can't be the first person to put this tranny and shifter combo together and have problems. Maybe my shift linkage is worn out or something. Its just killing me not being able to drive the car.

She actually did call me back last night, just a little after I posted that. But check this, she's divorced, and has a kid. I think I'm going to call her tonight and tell that this sure ain't gonna work out.

LOL
I have been down that road before, its always one of the last things a chick is going to tell you. I guess it just slips their mind that they have a kid back home.
I am not saying having a kid at young age makes a person horrible or something, but I personally do not want to be in a realtionship with someone who has one.

Exactly, I've actually been down that road too, but who said you have to make a long term relationship out of it? ;):jester:

I guess I should tell y'all the story, so everyone can have a good laugh. :jester: You see, bag, white, and myself, went to a strip club Sunday night. One of the girls there, who wound up being with me all night, asked me for my number. And I was like  . So I gave it to her, and she called me last night, that's when she told me about the kid (kid number 1, that is. I found out tonight about kid number 2). So we kinda mutually agreed it wasn't a good idea for anything to happen (thank God). Course, dating a stripper is bragging rights forever... :D :p
