If that was them, it wasn't a GT... it was a GTS.

Okay, what if I just got springs and forego shocks and struts for right now. I've gotten mixed reviews from guys at the wash (since none of them added anything but springs) but I was just curious what y'all thought. How it'll handle, ride, stuff like that.

BAD NEWS!!!

Well the stang is dead, intake manifold decided it didnt like where it was located and removed it self from its present location. Or to be more precise it cracked it half. Very spectacular as well(smoke, steam, coolant, water everywhere). Well it goes in on monday, so I'm guessing the intake recall should pay for this.

Almost wrecked hard, as the coolant dumped out so fast that it slicked down the tires and spun me out.

Bag- dont worry it will be fixed by nov3.

The old 4.6 plastic intake manifold cracking, I have replaced over 25 of them myself. They usually crack around the thermostat housing or they just split on the front runner right in back of the alternator. The silent recall should pay for all of the work. The new intake manifold is revised with the whole front runner section and thermostat housing being made of aluminum. In the beginning we were replacing them with just another same old plastic intake manifold. Ford finally wised up and saw what was causing the problem and fixed it as cheaply as they could.

Damn David. I guess now I know why you're not at GV. Why didn't you run the minivan? Anyways, glad to hear that Ford is going to be covering the manifold repair. I didn't even know they were honoring the intakes (of course I'd be surprised if they weren't).

And don't worry about the third. I'm just along for the ride so my feelings won't be hurt any by mechanical difficulties on your end. I feel your pain. I've got driver's school next month and about $1K of stuff to do to the car before hand. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't as flat busted as a russian gymnast.

It's going to ride a bit harsh since the stock shocks/struts aren't valved to properly dampen the higher spring rates. If you go with some "sport" springs, the rates might not be so high that it'll rattle your fillings loose but it won't be as pleasant as it could be.

I understand $$$ is a factor, but I'd wait until you have the coin to get the shocks/struts as well. If you're paying to have everything installed, you'll save money by having it done at the same time and you'll be much happier with the ride. But then again, wtf do I know? Ride quality is in the eye of the derrier.

David, glad you didn't wreck or anything. At least Ford is covering it.

Well, I'm thinking I can live with the drop the bullitt springs give. I was only planning on an inch to begin with, until I started working at the car wash. So now I just need to talk to TJ about installation price and hopefully it'll get done soon.

BTW: Where are we meeting tonight at 8:30? Should I just drive around randomly till I find we're y'all are?

Man I had fun yesterday, wish the rest of you guys coulda been there Skid pad was tons of fun on 1st run.....It was totally wet!!!! I let Jerry take me for a ride in my car. That guy can drive the wheels of anything!!! Of course when he turns in a considerably better time than you, in your own car, it's little disconcerting, but I did learn alot! Managed to trim about 1.25 seconds off my time after riding with him

Eric and I did our best to represent the Mustang crowd in novice. Eric and I were pretty neck and neck all day, we both turned in our best times of the day on the last run(mine was 40.233) and Eric got me by about a tenth or so....

The Mark VIII only had one competitor in FS, red/silver fox GT with aluminum wheels, paint kinda faded, dunno if any of you guys know him or not....The Mark took 1st with a 36.XX

Sorry for rambling on....L8r guys

Kevin

Sounds like you guys had fun yesterday. I wish I could have run but there's just too much to do to the car and not enough time and money to do it.

Jerry will humble you. He can also give you little advice as to upgrades. As a general rule, you shouldn't modify the car unless you have the experience to realize what is actually wrong with it. Some problems are easily misdiagnosed as equipment when they're actually the driver. But there are some upgrades that you can do (or things that seriously need to be addressed) that will definately help. He suggested I upgrade my brake pads and that did wonders. But before that, his instruction was good for couple seconds off my time.

I was listening to TJ the 1st time I was spectating, and his most important advice was to fix the driver before you fix the car. That pretty much stuck with me. Jerry showed me what I was doing wrong....BTW, the Screamin Green Escort is for sale, Jerry's buyin a new car.....

The car felt totally different yesterday, since I didn't have time to swap out the 16s for the 17s(wife got home too late and I didn't feel like dragging them to the track) and I made sure it had a full tank of gas....I felt that the rearend was way too eager to come around last time(prolly a combination of problems, 17s are almost bald, only 1/4 tank of gas and my driving, but nothing seemed to help last time) All in all the car felt much better!

L8r,
Kevin
