He's in a settlement case right now, or something like that. He wasn't a young guy, somewhere in his 40's perhaps, and didn't look like the type that would be really hard on a car. He did mention that his job has something to do with race cars, so I imagine he's no dumbie when it comes to cars.

I see them all the time under the hood of the LS. Don't let that small displacement fool you, those motors are still very large. Probably just as wide or an inch smaller than the 4.6 DOHC. I think ford could fit a 4.6 or 5.0 DOHC in that engine bay, but the only problem I see is hood clearence. So it looks like the car will need a raised hood of some sorts to fit.
I'm still waiting for the return of the BOSS before the new model comes out. If they put that 5.0 DOHC motor in there I will buy one of those next year instead of a MKIV Supra TT.

I just wondered why they covered it up with plastic in the T-bird, it can't look that bad, the 3.9L isn't a bad engine 252hp, can't remember the torque specs..... On a side note....The "R" badging is getting a little out of hand. I mean every car maker seems to have an "R" car. There is even a Jaguar S-Type R. respectible power 4.2L DOHC supercharged 390hp 399lbs/ft, but seriously.

BOSS? Is Ford working with Team Shinoda? I got the impression that Team Shinoda owns the 'rights' to the BOSS name plate. Anyone of us with 1994+ cars can get our cars 'certified' as a BOSS and have it given a serial number, IF you install ALL the right parts, according to their website.

Well the engine is that ugly. One very ugly looking plastic intake manifold with tubes and wires going all over the place, so they decide to cover it up just like with a lot of their other cars. The car handles great, has a great top end pull, but has no balls at all in the low end.

I'm not sure about who owns the BOSS name. It may be one of those deals where they are both allowed to use it. I know they have some rights to it since they used it on Coletti's 94 429 BOSS. The whole shinoda boss cars are a joke in my opinion, there is nothing BOSS about those cars at all except for those ugly graffics they put all over.

I do have easy access to a press, but I don't need it as the spindle swap is fairly straight forward. 2 strut bolts, the tie-rod, and the ball joint nut and it's off. 94+ mustangs use a sealed bearing design, so I'm not worried about pressing in new bearing races.

cool. Honda's have to be pressed on and off... big PITA. The spindle design pretty much sucks... you've even got to press the spindle out to replace the wheel studs unless you get "inventive"

And the steering... All I meant was I was going to somehow cut the stock, flimsy rag-joint out and replace it with a solid universal joint. This costs about $70 plus my time whereas a Flaming River solid steering shaft runs $250+. Same result in the end only more money for other things... like that liquid rejuvinator often imbibed after the race .

more "liquid rejuvenator" $$ is always a good thing

The last time I had a motor above 8.5K had to have been the Yamaha FJ1200 I ran in the old race car. I had that one above 10K for the majority of the race though.

yep... it's a little different than a stang. It still creeps me out how much low end power a V8 can pull... seems freakish and unnatural

I appreciate the offer but I don't think it'll come to that. If it starts getting close, I'll just wait until after the Feb event to tear into it. Thanks though. If money wasn't so tight right now, I'd go up to RR just to get a couple ride-alongs with you guys.

well, if your stang is in pieces and you need a car... let me know If you can make it out to RR you'll have a great time... as much ride-along seat time as you can stand w/o puking. The people there tend to be really relaxed and most drivers don't mind having a passenger at all

yes... very fun/entertaining "experiment" btw, ever notice how slow it feels like your car is accelerating when you're running nose to nose with someone else?

re: your mods... I seem to remember you were having some trouble getting them "approved" through the parental figures... how did you get them to change their minds?

I got a job and the warranty pretty much ran out at the same time. I think all dad cared about was keeping the warranty in tact for as long as possible. Now it doesn't matter so much.

very cool looks like you've already got plenty of stuff on the car and have some more stuff for the suspension waiting to go on... what class does that bump you into on street tires? Can you run STX?

edit: just looked on the SCCA website and have some good news for all of you Mustang boys running autoX... drumroll please... you can now run STX with 245 width tires last season the limit was 225 which is way too small for a stang anywho... this means that you can do all sorts of suspension/intake/exhaust/brake mods and still keep your cars in a street tire class

Ok I stand corrected on the ugly engine thing

Isn't that the 'tangerine' orange 94 BOSS? It had the Shinoda graphics too, I think. Hopefully, Ford will issue a BOSS that lives up the old name. I like the export wheel flares and chin spoiler, but the 15" surfboard spoiler on the back isn't my style and the graphics are ok but a little over the top. I think it would look better with the spoiler baglock1 got for his ride.

99-02 GT level II certification actually has some decent performance mods including a Paxton Novi blower, among other things.

Yeah Eric, you been sitting on those C/C plates and LCA's for a while now, what seems to be the holdup on getting them installed? You gonna have them done before the next auto-x? Any idea what your going to use for alignment settings? If my memory serves me I think I set my caster to 3 and set my camber at about -1 after I did my struts last month. I'd have to check the printout I ran to be sure though.

I just called TJ and confirmed an install date of Jan 6th, which I believe is right before the next AutoX. He's been backed up for a while, so I'm finally going to be able to get them in. I dunno much about the CC plates, though. I just knew they were kinda needed for the springs. I don't want to eat up these tires like I have the last two sets.

me and my luck...

well guys...tranny #2 is officially rat ****. couple days ago i stuck it in third and it flew out, making some wickedly nasty noises. jay down at lamotta said 3rd gear went byebye, so im goin to stick it in the garage and get the turbo's on.

but i have a question. im goin to run two T3's from TurboCoupes (.60/.63 AR) along with an intercooler. my original idea was to just buy an aftermarket I/C, but unless bill gates wants to donate to my cause, im goin to have to build my own.

so what cars do you guys think i should get the cores off of? theres plenty of Saabs/TurboCoupes/Supercoupes with intercoolers still on them in my local junkyard, so of those what do you think would function the best? I was thinking 3 Saab cores welded together, then just get creative with the end tanks...but im not all that knowledgable when it comes to intercooler design, so any help would be great.
