Sounds like a lot of hassle and work just to end up with something cobbed together that may or may not work correctly. I would save my pennies and get something that would make life easier, not harder. What about your tranny? You gonna just throw something in there that won't hold up under a turbo or do it right and build up a nice automatic? What about a fuel system and engine managment? If you think an I/C is expensive wait until you start figuring that stuff out!
I found out a long, long time ago that there is no cheap and easy way to go fast safely and reliably. Either pony up with the bucks up front or deal with the car being broken all the time. The right way to do it is start with a plan on where you want to end up, then take the right steps to get there. Do your cost estimates up front, then double it, cuz that is what it will run.
