Melbourne area stangs

In that case, nevermind!

Well good news for me... Sort of. I discovered tonight what my car is SUPPOSED to run like. It's been feeling ABUNDANTLY short on power for the past few weeks now. I mean seriously, seriously slow. I take her out tonight and....wow. It peels out on launch, chirps second....it's hauling some serious, serious nuts. I pull it over and listen to the engine. Ahh, no ticking. So this is what it's supposed to run like with the valves working normally! I've got a bad valve on cylinder 8 that's been sucking a LOT of power from me.... If only I had the money for a pair of Trick Flow heads... :nonono:

On the up-side, I found an AWESOME deal on a tranny! I should be able to get the tranny (which has a Kevlar overdrive band, and a total of like 8 direct drum or something clutches, as opposed to the stock number of around 5, and the options of a hardened input shaft, a mechanical diode, and an "A+" billet Overdrive servo), a 3000 stall 10" converter, a tranny cooler, a B&M shifter, and a Lentech Street Terminator valvebody for all around $2500 or so, installed. And the best part is...they don't even want my original tranny as a core... So.....bye bye old AOD. Wonder how much it'll sell for. It still has all gears and shifts decent with the proper hydraulic pressure I'm sure!

So, what would you all recommend asking for a complete, operating AOD tranny and the stock shifter? Is $200-$300 too much? :D

Hey man if you can find anyone who will give you that kind of money for it tell me, I have had my old AOD sitting in my garage almost a year now. I can't find anyone who wants these big paper weights.

Eric Kebbel

Eric, Dave and I are comming down tomorrow afternoon to drop off the Probe and pick up the motor. That ok? Let me know.
I'll probably need directions. What is your house phone or cell phone so we can get stuff straightened out before then.

1st Baglock, sounds like you're in a great place......to get into a great amount of trouble :D Simpson's in Portugese.....that's just too funny

2nd Glenn, was that the same Evo that was parked near us last time? Man those are ugly cars. Looking at the times that were turned, that musta been a pretty fast course. BTW, I passed you on I-95 Saturday morn, just north of the Viera exit. We were headed to the Jax zoo(in the ghetto cruiser) to lend my kids to......the zoo....um no wait, they are going to spend some time with my folks.

3rd Kebbel, Dude that sucks about your boat!!

Sure is quiet around my house.

Kevin,
Yes it was that same ugly car from last month. He moved out of A Stock and into ESP this weekend. Not sure what changes he made to move up but the car really flies. He was a sloppy driver but the car made up for it. I read up on the car sunday and from the specs it has 280 HP and weighs ~3000# so the power to weight ratio is pretty damned good. With AWD and 15" brakes it hooks and stops too.

Seems an odd jump from A Stock to E Street Prepared. Oh well, I don't know much about car classing in SCCA. I thought ESP was populated by overweight illhandling v8 overpowered RWD vehicles.:jester::stick: I noticed that an F-body showed up this time. Haven't seen very many of those at the SCCA events. What happened to the Lincoln? I noticed he finished in my usual spot, beaten by the BMW.:nonono:

I forgot about 94_Teal_GT... now we have something in common: the color of our cars.

Yeah, but I like the color :stick: Just kidding, but I will tell you this, that color attracts no police attention and chicks like it. Only police attention it's gotten was a Sheriff deputy pulling up next my wife to tell her it sounded great:D You really gonna swap the veee6 for a 5.0? Sounds like a good plan :nice: Are the rearends the same, I've heard conflicting reports about that? Totally off target, but how is the paint on taillights, mine is pretty faded?

The "sloppy driver" in the Mitsubishi Evo is Ian. He's a cool guy. Dan and I have had numerous conversations and hung out with him a few times. He used to have a Miata and a red Lightning before he got the Evo...and before those, he had a Mustang. A really badass one too, from what I've heard. He has a lot of knowledge and is a nice guy. :nice:

I'm not a big fan of the color either.. but as you said, the females seem to like it. How'd you know I was thinking about a motor swap? As far as the rear, from what I've been told it's the same, but I have to change out the bellhousing..or something. Don't know much about 5.0 cars.. but I'm learning.
As for the tails, one looks pretty good, the other is in fair shape, but over all, the car could use a paint job.

That's a nice little gain.
I don't think that I'll be building up the 6, tho.. I'm eventually going to put in a 5.0 after I get other things taken care of first.. like, better wheels, suspension stuff possibly.. a shifter, bla bla ..

Some guy told me about the swap:rlaugh: I know what you mean about fading, my front bumper cover is faded badly, just below the headlights.

You've been lied to. :D

V6s have the 7.5" 28 spline axle without the traction lock. The V8s have the 8.8" 28 spline axle with the t-lok. The 7.5" will handle stock 5.0L power levels for awhile, but if you're going to mod it, go for the 8.8". In any case, I'd go with the 8.8" just for the t-lok and increased aftermarket support.

Hehe.. oops. :D

I've got a few faded spots too.. and a spot where the clear coat is peeling off near the passengers rear quarter window.. lady said a horse bit it, and now the clear is peeling off...

Yea, I was told that the 7.5 would hold up for a while..
Thanks for clearing that up, Dan. :nice:

BTW.. is it really bad if I chirp 2nd when I get on it?
This is my first stick shift car...

Yes I knew who he was, just didn't know him personally. I have seen some of his postings on the BMS forum and he seems like a OK guy. I believe he just got the car a few weeks ago and maybe he is still getting used to it. He just didn't seem to be driving the car to it's potential, then again it could look that way because of the street tires he was on.

I'm just a little taken aback that SCCA includes it in ESP. They also have the WRX in ESP as well so maybe there is a method to their madness. I believe there will be a lot of Mustang and F body owners upset that they will have to compete against a purpose built car like that. A Mustang would have to have some serious infusion of HP (or weight rerduction) and suspension upgrades to be on par with the EVO in Auto-X.

Chirping second is coming place for a V8 with a t-lok. Since you don't have the t-lok, all you're chirping is 1 tire. Sounds normal to me. Of course, chirping tires isn't normal at all for typical driving unless you're a lead foot. My suggestion is getting into the gas a little easier as you engage the clutch. :D

hold up there trigger

dave i dont even have the 5.0 out of the car yet an i cant get it out till this weekend maybe feeding the kids comes before car stuff an im swamped with work right now daves got my cell have him call me towards the end of the week ive got to do keiths gears before any thing else hes been waiting a while
