Hey, I'm gonna be Dave G. for a second...
Ohhh mannn I amm so drfunk!!

Only kidding. That was last night. But I do have a hangover. I think I'm going to conveniently reschedule my shift tonight and hopefully get my car back this evening from Gene's. I partied yesterday and today I'm too hung over for a water pump job....that and all the crap I'd have to remove to get to it...the hell with it. Had to have it towed there. Glad I didnt try to drive it because just turning it on and driving it onto the tow platform, the damn water pump seal let loose pretty good....it never would've made the drive. And I-95 would've blown my motor probably.

So ANYWAYS....is there AutoX this Saturday? I don't work and coming up for it it sounding like a pretty good idea right about now since I haven't been in weeks and weeks.

Ohh, and droptop....so most of your yellowing happens on the outside? Mine were sealed up for 12 years before drain holes were drilled in...it had water and crap in them...so I figured they'd yellowed out from the inside. Never thought to do anything to the outside.... I'll keep that in mind..thanks for the tip!

And finally, I apologize for the length of this post. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about right now. I'm still not walking straight.

Yea the actual yellowing is on the outside of the lens. Since you drilled drain holes in them (i did the same thing), there might be alittle bit of dirt n stuff inside the lens...which could be cleaned out pretty easy. But yea, all the yellowing is on the outside...and will all come off with alittle elbow-work.

Well TJ and Chris picked up my car today.Started it up to let Chris hear it and he goes get this...."It sounds exspensive" I was like why thanks for the enlightenment. It could be a rod.Thats great but o well.If it is a rod well im putting some modmax rods and pistons in instead of more stock stuff for I know I would just throw a rod again. Here comes more boost if it works out this way..wooo hooo!

Throw Out Bearing..?

Something from underneath the hood starting squeeking today.. thought it was a belt, but it would stop when I pushed the clutch in, then return when I let the clutch out. I posted in the 6cyl. forum, and a guy said that he just had the same problem. Said it sounded like my throw out bearing is about to go.. and that my clutch would be soon behind it.
So this means I need a new clutch now?
I plan on doing the 5.0 swap in the not too distant future.. would it be wise to go with a more heavy duty clutch now so I don't have to replace another clutch when the swap actually happens?

I would. Why put some crappy stock clutch in now only to get the 5.0 and be constantly overheating your clutch from the newfound 5.0 power, and be disappointed in the softness of it, and then probably destroy it. Get some badass solid racing clutch and you'll be happy.

Yeah it is... I'm just being lazy.. And I worry that a massive amount of posts might overload the server...

Hey, anyone still have the link to the AutoX schedule online?? I lost it when I formatted my harddrive and I'd like to know when it's going on so I can catch the next one.

The 5.0 uses a different clutch. I'd have to replace it again anyway. V6 has an 11" clutch, the 5.0 has a 10.5".

Dave L....you got a part number on those heads? I've just about gone INSANE from the severe loss of power I'm getting here and your heads are starting to sound pretty sweet right about now....

I've been hearing my throwout bearing squeak for about 10k miles now so if yours has just started making noise, theres a good chance you've still got some life left in your clutch. If moneys tight, dont fix it unless its really broke.

I hope you're right. Money is tight right now and I can't afford to replace the clutch. This kinda sucks.. and it makes one hell of an annoying noise too.

Hey Dan (baglock), can you tell us some more about your experience with the Evolution driving school? How much was it? It might make a good birthday present for me. They're coming at the end of June and beginning of August. The June event might be sold out already.

Bringing my own car worries me though. I have a feeling something would break the night before.

I talked to the Palm Bay contact, Jkinser77@aol.com. S/he said there were two spots left for June 28th/29th. You interested, Glenn?

The schedule doesn't show them coming back in August anymore.

Its not always smart to test a throwout bearing though. Two people that I know with SN95 GTs had their throwout bearing starting to make noise, lasted about a week before the bearing totally seized up and just came apart. You don't want this to happen while you are driving down a road.

Yes Tim, I am interested. Did they say how much it cost? I will have to check my calendar but I think I can spare the time for the school.

What would you like to know? All in all, I felt it was money well spent ($200 a day, unless they're having a discount). Got lots of seat time and some good pointers.

My only complaint (and it's really not a complaint) is that they really didn't point out anything bad about my technique that I didn't know I needed to improve. I just wasn't aware it was holding me back THAT much. None the less, for $200, bucks I felt it was worth it. I ended up getting something like 30 runs. Their phase I course is very mustang friendly too.

If you want any specifics, let me know.
