So what would you say the GTS option took off in total weight. They have no wing and fog lights, thats about 30 pounds there. They have the base seats, maybe another 30 pounds there. No power door locks or windows. I would say about 15 pounds saved right there. There maybe more junk and my weight guesses could be off, but I am not a GTS expert. I really don't see anything that significant that could drop anything more than a tenth off a 1/4 time from the regular GT.

I'll bet that's with you, and I dunno how much gas. Cause if I recal correctly, my Mustang (from the factory) weighs roughly 3240 pounds.

I couldn't tell ya about how less I weigh. All I know is my 95 weighs 3260 and while Erich's 265 hp GT still beats me, I keep up with 1 car length no problem...

Still haven't seen your new spoiler, man. We want pics or something. I want to see this carbon fiber beast. ;) When are you getting it installed?

So what else have you done to knock the weight down? You do have a pretty good power to weight ratio.
Maybe my hatchback is a little bit of a factory freak, which would kind of explain why I can easily take out my friends 94 GT. On a side note my hatchback will stay dead even in a race against my friends 98 Cobra.

I really haven't done anything as far as weight reduction. I've been waiting for a day off when it isn't raining to strip the interior and pull out all the sound deadoning crud, but it hasn't happened yet. Personally, I've always thought that weight was a little high. Compared to the numbers I've seen on other cars, I would have though I was around the 3100-3150 mark .

Erich: No pics yet. I've been lazy. I'm thinking I may wait until I get the hood too and then get the entire car painted at the same time. Besides, you'll see it this Sunday.

The GTS also didnt come with ABS breaks. Just a small fact for ya. My dads '95 Crystal White GTS ran a 12.50 with his N/A combo on Sportsmans. They spun off the line a bit.

Mine is also sans ABS, but it was available on them. Any option that was available on a V6 was available on a GTS. Many of them came with PW, PL, cruise, etc. While the stripped ones are more common, there are quite a few with a ton of the added options.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression the GTS did not come with ABS brakes. In '95 when my dad purchased his GTS my mom also got a Rio Red GTS. For 2 years we had 2 of these in the drive way. She got rid of it for a Explorer, but has been kickin herself in the @ss since. The point is hers didnt come with ABS either, and I just thought it wasnt an option for these. Sorry for the bogus fact.

Wow! That's cool that you guys had two GTS's. I've actually been kinda-sorta looking for another but haven't been able to find one. BTW, I got a few pics of her now (thanks Erich!) if you're still interested. Shoot me an email.

And I wouldn't worry about bogus facts. There's so much mis information floating around about the GTS, I learn something new everyday, whether it's true or not

Hey y'all, this is my one year anniversy for joining stangnet today! :D :D :D And in that one year, I've made roughly 3,300...er, um, 2,900 posts. :D Just thought I'd let y'all know. And my very first post was in the "Mach1 Should They Build It" thread, too. :D

Hey Baglock1,
I sent you an email about the pics. Also, I will be taking mine and my dads rides to a local recycling station to weigh our cars on the scales they have. My girls father works there, so I have access to the scales :) . I will let you know what the GTS weighs in at, and my coupe just for kicks.
