EDIT: Forgot to mention. It sure is nice to find a thread full of old people. All those Tampa threads were making me feel old, but now I feel better. Thanks.

Just had one too(DEC 16th) it sucks turning 29, 30 is right there laughing at me.

maybe I'll have a early mid-life crisis and pick up one of the new mustangs when they come out.

Thirty aint nuttin! Some of the best things in my life happened after I hit thirty. Forty can be even better than thirty, I had a ball after I hit forty.

I've already seen pictures of it in Automotive News and it doesn't look all that bad. It uses the DEW90 platforn, same as the T-Bird, and will be a much better riding and handling car than the ancient Fox based platform Ford currently uses. I haven't had an opportunity to get under the hood or chassis on a new T-Bird yet so I don't know how much room there will be for a V-8. Good chance it will be even tighter than it is now.

There have been sooooo many rumors surrounding the platform change, I'll just be glad when it's over. I knew they were switching to the DEW chassis, which as Glenn stated, should be great for handling!!!! Isn't that the same chassis as the Lincoln LS and Jaguar S-type, in addition to the T-bird? Are all of them going to be IRS? Now does anyone know for sure what powerplant is going to be in it? I originally heard they'd be using the 3.9L V8 from the T-bird/LS(the Jag uses a 4.2L DOHC). Then I've heard they were using the 4.6L? One would assume that from a cost stand point, the 3.9 is a drop in.

BTW, has anyone ever SEEN the 3.9L v8? I've had a brief glimpse under the hood of a new T-bird but the engine had this big plastic cover, hiding nearly the entire thing!

lincoln 5 spd auto

ive driven a few of the new t birds an the lincolns with the new 5 spd auto ! all i can say is wow adam will have to be very fast shifting to beat one of those ! the rpm drop is like not there!
its like riding an 2 stroke dirt bike an hitting the power band

The way I look at it is like this. SVT set a precident this year with 390hp. Whatever engine is in the next Cobra wont have less. Short of a twin turbo, that pretty much means a bigger engine than 4.6
