Melbourne area stangs

Ha ha ha...well, I can say this..the ride is TERRIBLE...it's insanely harsh. I can hardly push the car down at all by hand... I attributed it to insane shocks...but maybe it is the springs..? All I've got in the back end is adjustable upper control arms and aftermarket trailing arms..both installed by the previous owner...don't know a damn thing about them and never touched either. And yeah..basically what he said was that when I was taking a turn, instead of the body of the car tilting to the side and the tires staying flat, he said the angle of the tires is tilting WITH the body of the car...so I take a hard left turn, and my left rear tire tries to lose contact on the outside as all the weight transfers to the two right tires via MASSIVE body roll. :notnice: I only saw this kinda thing happen once..at an AutoX...some little car...he had something welded together back there I heard and every time he took a corner, he did it on 3 wheels. No joke.

Good thing I didn't plan to do any kind of handling with this thing... Straight line is just fine for me. Besides, it's an auto...auto = big no no for courses.... Not to mention it's either a little worn down with a mild shift kit, or a LOT worn down and stock specs......shifts hard as hell unless I'm really on the throttle a little bit, then it loosens up..and Overdrive sounds like it slips when it engages.

Nothing wrong with a auto on a road course.Just put it in 2nd and drive.Ask Dan he will tell you.He autoX his automatic.Does just fine.:nice: But yeah it sounds like your car is set up for drag racing. You prolly will do good with it at the track.
a 5 speed would definately be better for an autoX, but its not needed. only time ive had problems was with the car still in first gear and too much gas coming out of a corner:jester:

Hmm...food for thought. I just don't like the idea of leaving it in Drive because it kicks into 3rd gear too early...but that's not a major problem... What I'm worried about is...gearshifts at part or no throttle. First to second is normal...but into 3rd, it kicks like a MOTHER....sounds like it's gonna drop the tranny out from under the car unless I'm on the throttle a little and it shifts at over 2000 rpms. Under that and  :damnit:

If a shift light is that hard..god I'd hate to see an MSD box. Friend of mine spent about 2 hours in my garage wiring up his MSD box. He finally crimped his last wire and was like "hell yes! FINALLY!" He jumps in the car and turns the key. Nothing. He LITERALLY ripped every single wire from that box straight out of the connections, threw it in the back, and left. He wasn't too happy. :D
