Melbourne area stangs

I can't remember whether that's more frightening or more cool..
More government tech in development for ya:

The already have a preliminary version of a chameleon jacket! Aka, it matches its surroundings. That's damn cool.

EMP grenade..toss it and zap, everything electronic fries within that radius. They're perfecting them now I think.

The sonic cannon..I like this one!! Uses special frequencies of sonic waves...point it at the enemy and it vibrates the air in the diaphragm, making their internal organs vibrate. And guess what happens? No, they don't explode....they just violent vomit EVERYWHERE!! But I'm sure if they crank the power up it can kill someone.

ok, who won esp today?

Van Hoeven (sp?) in the Mk VIII got 3rd, Baggie got a second and I finished first. I sort of lucked out, I got red-flagged on my 4th run and got to come around and re-run while my tires were hot. Until then baggie had me beat by about a half second or better on each run all day. I was able to nip him by about .1 second on my rerun.

I still accepted the trophy, of course!:nice:

Kevin made a couple of really cool spinouts on Kebbel's old tires too. A lot of cars went spinning out of control towards the end of the day. Like I said, it was a really fun course.

Who isn't man, I admit I am a sucker for hot friendly waitresses. If they make my evening nice I give them a real generous tip.

I hate being lied to and being fed B.S. lines, also...
So if she was just telling me what I wanted to hear, instead of her honest opinion, that would seriously piss me off.
It's her job to sell the customer(me) clothes, so if she lied to me about how it looked, I wouldn't be surprised... plus I'd be pissed...really pissed...:nono:

I'm getting pissed off at just the fact of her lying to me about it... Arg!

ugh.. anyways.. gotta love having a low tolerance and a short temper. :nonono:

Was there an old Light Blue Cobra Clone with cobra R wheels out at the autocross? I was driving south on 95 yesterday around 4. Thats when The massive rain storm hit and he was on the side of the road getting poured on, felt bad for the guy, he was just sitting in the cockpit in a yellow rain coat. :( It was a really bad storm to drive in, couldn't see anything, and couldn't go faster than 25mph

glenn- you must have upgraded to race rubber.....beating jerry and dan at the autoX, that's a pretty good day.

was dan still on his street MX's, pushing the lincoln to 3rd almost never happens.

Any one coming up to St AUG, to run the police training track on SUN(23rd) In JAX region you get 6 runs(50sec+each). Its right off i-95 so prolly no more than a 1.5 hr drive.

Yes, Dave, I upgraded to Kumho 275-40 V-700 Victoracers. The grip is amazing on these tires. Dan was running on a set of Victoracer's, 255-40's I believe. TJ went to Sebring to watch the races and let Dan borrow his racing tires for the weekend. The Mk VIII is quick, but not as quick as a Mustang on race rubber, heh heh. I think the fact that I have been going to every PB event and the Saturday practice sessions since November has helped my driving tremendously.

I never take those chicks serious, you get too worked up if you do. At those places I feel that is the way the hot chick does their job to get more money, the only time I do take them serious is when they give me their number.

glenn- driver seat time is prolly the best MOD anyone can make, having autoXed for over 2.5 yrs now, i'm just now really able to say that im at the limit of the car.

At my last autoX with over 60 drivers i ran in the top 5-7 all day. with a combo that is considerably milder then most. In the end the driver makes the most difference. good luck and congrats on the WIN, i might have to come down and give you a run soon.:)

Dave,
I would love to come up there and try out the St. Aug. course. I would have to solve the logistics problem of getting both my car and the tires up there though. I wouldn't want to drive the Kumho's that far. If I can get in and out of the Cobra with it on the trailer I could tow it with the F-150. The trailer has a rail around the bed so door opening space is very limited. The Cobra is wider and lower than the LX so it would be iffy at best.

The Martin Sports Car Club will be having an AX at Gainsville on the 12th of April. It is supposed to use a portion of the GIR road course, be high speed and not have any cones. That sounds intriguing...

Yeah, we could use you down here in PB, we only had 5 cars in ESP this weekend. Maybe TJ will be here for the one in April so if you showed up it could be fun. Baggie has to go to Texas for several weeks so he won't be here then.

Glenn- Put the tires/rims in trash bags, then put two in truck, two in back seat. If a vette can fit four tires inside then so can a cobra. That is what i do, just throw them in the mustang.

The MSCC event at GIR last year was very fast, high 3rd gear. That event is kinda pricey but worth the money. you get a free t-shirt as well. I will be there as well(on the 12th)

Laugh it up. :D :p :nice: It's ok, but on that last spin out when I wiped the line of cones with the rear, I broke the reflector in the bumper.:damnit: I kinda lost track, did I do a complete 360 on that last one? I was kinda  but after I saw the NSX loop it twice in the same spot, I felt a little better. That corner had alot of people's number yesterday! Sunday wasn't a good day for me. After I got home to put the 'street' tires back on, I notice that one of them has a screw in it  and of course it was too late to take it in to get it fixed.

I'll be back! I need some tires and to 'tighten the nut behind the wheel'(baglock1 quote). That is so true. :D

Didn't one of the WRX's crack his windshield? That would suck! How did that happen?

Kevin, sorry to hear about the screw in the tire, did you get it fixed today?

Yeah, I agree you really need to work on getting a set of good tires, maybe two at a time if a whole set is too expensive. I had problems keeping the back of my car on line until I got those Kumho's.

As for your lucky corner, I bet there were at least a dozen spinouts there. That red Vette did it twice, several RX-7's and Miata's did too and yes, even the NSX! The Mk. VIII almost lost it there on his third run.

I talked to the owner of the WRX with the broken windshield. He claimed that Subaru has had a problem with that lately and he was taking it into the dealer this week. I would say that the unibody is flexing too much and over-stressing the glass. World Rally champ or not, it takes body flex to do that.

I will be looking into getting some better springs than those FRPP B springs I recently installed. They really seem to be too soft and allow way too much body roll and suspension compression on my car. I ran my right front tire into the inner fender again this weekend and put a groove on the inner shoulder all the way around the circumference.

I think I will try and set my caster up to about 4.5* and drop my camber back to about -2* to try and keep the tires off the chassis.

No, I didn't get the tire fixed. I'll have to get it fixed tomorrow. I may just plug it myself. I'm not worried about the speed rating on them, they only ever see normal highway speeds anyway.

I'll have to see about tires. 2 at a time might not be a bad idea. The fronts seemed to stick pretty well, but that could just be that the rears weren't sticking at all. If I can't come up with 2 new rears by next AutoX, I may run the daily drive tires on the back and the others on the front. I have run the daily drive tires at AutoX before and they didn't do badly, just don't want to make a habit of it.....

Yeah, I did see many spinouts there. I guess the Vettes and the NSX were the most surprising(due to their excellent weight distribution, and the fact that they have alot more experience than I)

Body flex is what I was thinking on the broken glass.

Your car does seem to sway and dive on those soft springs. Looking back, I wish I'd got the H&Rs for mine, but I bought the Steedas before I even knew there was an AutoX around these parts. I'm not unhappy with the Steedas, just think the H&Rs would be better. BUT, no more mods to the car for me, until I learn to drive it as is.

That's a bummer deal on the tire rub!
