Melbourne area stangs

Hey Dave, could you ask Gene about his coolant temp sensor install for me in the midst of the other crapload of stuff? Either my gauge or that sensor is crapping out cause I never get consistent engine temp readings, and I observed it today when my gauge read MUCH hotter than normal and it stayed put for like 20 seconds and then dropped by around 30 degrees...then stayed put for 10 or 15 seconds and jumped by around 10 or 15 degrees....sudden moves. I don't trust the damn thing now so I'm gonna crank the fan switch down way low to make absolute sure that I don't overheat not knowing about it. But this worries me!

This right after my brake job that hiccuped and popped a shoe off in the rear or something again...gotta take it back.. Mushy pedal.

Why is it that everything I have fixed BREAKS AGAIN!!

And where might I find a metal water crossover? I would like to stay clear of the cracked intake problem.

You could go to your ford dealer and buy the re-designed intake manifold with the aluminum front coolant runner which would be pointless. Or you could wait till yours actually cracks and starts to leak, then bring it into your ford dealer and have it replaced for free. I have replaced over 30 of those leaking plastic intake manifolds on 4.6s, not one of them has ever been customer pay.

I guess the second one sounds like a better idea. Even though I'd like the avoid the cracking to begin with, but oh well.

I don't blame you not wanting to risk anthing happening to your car, but I would just periodically check it. Whenever it does actually start to leak, stop driving it and have it towed into the dealership. The only way people do damage is when they act stupid and keep driving the car around and don't think about the horrible smell of burning coolant. Then they finally bring the car in when it has already overheated.

I thought the warranty thing was only up to 1998 cars? For ford said they had fixed it befor the 99 up.Ive only seen the 02/03 stangs with the new intake. But you know if mine does break and if I take it to a ford place they would prolly tell me to get bent when they see the vortech.Im getting the bullit intake if and when it breaks anyways.

I don't see where TJ and Gean got pulled into this.
It was Brian's car. Brian made the decision to purchase the Nitrous kit, Brian made the decision to have it installed, thus it is Brian's "fault". No offense to the guy or anything, he is my friend and all, but I don't think his intake would have been ruined if he hadn't had the Nitrous on it..atleast not at this point in the vehicle's life, anyway. Just because Gean installed the kit, or Brian bought it from Gean, is beside the point. If he got it from Pep-Boys, would we all blame them for it?
If someone makes the conscious decision to do something like that to their car, then it is their responsibility and their fault if something happens, good or bad. I'm not flaming Brian at all, just stating the obvious. So let's leave the mechanics out of it, regardless of who you go to.
