Sorry to hear that Josh. Pretty ****ty that happened to your new bumper also, I bet it looked badass. I wanted to see it too.

On the other hand, I got a Mustang finally.
It's a 94 V6. Teal on grey/black cloth interior. 5speed.
No power options except for mirrors.

1st mod: 2001 leather shift knob. ( Thank's Josh :p )

The bumper looks like it can be repaired. They do make stuff thats like bondo but for bumpers.Jesus that shift knob still going round.V6 stang huh? A 5.0 bolts right in.I might get lucky with the car tho.Im starting to think I blew a valve for the thing started to purr with no problems when we got it home.Put in on and off the truck with its own power but it had that loud ass tap tapping away.So here hoping its only needs head.:nonono:

Congrats on the new ride Dave, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Lots of things you can do to that V-6 to improve it. Later model heads and intake are worth 40 HP.

Well the stang still runs somehow. Finally got it home.It idles now for some reason but there is sound that sounds like a rod knocking away.

Josh, sorry to hear about the car. I hope it turns out to be something simple and not too costly.

Thx people.Seems like there is a real good chance that it sucked a valve down. The oil pressure, vaccum, and how the oil looks is all in good shape.I started it up today first turn it was running with no missfire.Ran at idle like it always did other than the tapping. When I started it up my neibor(spelling?) heard it.I told him what happen and how its showing good vital signs and he said if it was the rod most likly it would have taken out the spark plug.He said it was running to smooth and not missing to be that.He thinks it maby crushed the valve spring so it might be banging off the piston which is still not good anyway.Said just take the valve cover off to see if i see any metal shavings and anything else that shouldnt be in there. So heres hoping its just that and if it is it didnt damage the piston to where I gotta replace it.BTW the guy restores old cars all the time so I think I can trust what he is saying.Jesus the man has restored 8 chevy chevelles and still owns them. Not to mention his other cars that he's done.Got 14 total.:worship:

I dout it was that.I dont know if I told you or not but the car was having some type of tapping every morning on a cold start from the passenger side in the back of the motor.Thats exactly where this VERY loud tapping noise is coming from now.It was doing that before the vortech even went on it.I didnt care about it anymore sense it only did it on a cold start then quit as soon as it warmed up.Im thinking that this valve which Im hoping it is was already going bad from the begining before the vortech. It just finally let go.But I wont find out for awhile tho.:(

Odd request

I got a new check valve at CarQuest. Assuming it fits, I'll need a rubber cap on the end of the valve (held on with a ring clamp). Do any of you 5.0 guys have something lying around that would work? The tube coming off of the check valve is about 1.5" long and 0.5-0.75" in diameter. The original rubber cap came from one of the tubes in that mess of piping between the h-pipe, heads, and air pump. Mine went with the valve that broke off and fell on the street somewhere.

Let me know if anyone can scrounge something that will work and is going to autocross tomorrow.

Josh, it might be a hydraulic cam follower from the way you describe it. If it were a valve you would have a very bad miss. A valve spring would cause a miss that would be more pronounced as the engine revs up a bit and would likely result in a popping back through the intake. A cam follower is relatively inexpensive to repair if it hasn't done any other damage.

Another thing it might be is a cracked piston. The fact that you have a blower could be a contributing factor to it's demise if that is what it is. Disable your ignition to the suspected cylinder then start it up. If the noise lessens I would say it is the piston.
