Melbourne area stangs

Happen to remember passing a red hatchback? I passed a Mystic tonight (Might have been on Longwood/Lk Mary rd, cant remember... :D ). Dont see too many around here very often.

If the mystic had ugly chrome wheels on it then it was mine. My FR500s are coming soon though, the car is really hurting with these wheels on it.

Well y'all, I bought a daily driver today. One of my teachers is moving to PA and she sold me her '91 Eagle Talon AWD TSi for $500. Pics will be up soon. It isn't in perfect shape, the turbo has been busted for quite some time and apparently it's going to need some tranny work (clutch?) done soon, and the A/C needs to be charged, but otherwise, it's fine.

BTW: Eric, if you know of any turbo's for the above car that you can get your hands on, I might be interested.
Lets saddle up boys.Ill bring the rope.:D

I can't knock him TOO bad....at least it's a fast import! Those AWD turbo Talons are a force to be reckoned with.. Course, with a busted turbo and funky tranny.......there goes all its good points, besides the AWD. Speaking of, how good is it? Never driven an all wheel driver. I imagine it's no different unless you're either a) launching it or b)off-roading or handling. It's probably got a nasty case of understeer.

As much as I hate to admit it....I saw the new Fast and the Furious movie today. :nonono: Just as highly unrealistic as the first one...but I do admit, the plotline was better. It got tiring though..... So many dumb technical things that made no sense.. I swear these cars have infinite gears. They upshifted like CRAZY every race..I don't understand it...I could see 15 gear shifts on a STRAIGHTAWAY.

On a comical sidenote....a buddy of mine, the one that's been riding with me for the past couple MMOB meetings, got his hands on a copy of a new issue of Sport Compact magazine where they tested all the cars from the movie. I believe the Lancer, in movie form, was MUCH, MUCH slower than a Lancer of the same year in stock form. Don't know why. We're talking like 15.1. All of the other cars were equally unimpressive. The Supra and S2000 were among the quickest if I remember right....mid to low 13's. And the Skyline was pretty slow.. To top that off, they disabled the AWD system on the Skyline and ran it on rear wheel drive only. Why? For the drift scenes.

Well, I decided I'm prolly gonna fix the turbo. The car bucks whenever I let on or off the gas...which I would imagine is from the fact that the engine expects the turbo to be working whenver that happens. Doesn't make for a very comfy ride. Because of that, and the funky tranny, I haven't pushed it too hard. I can tell, though, that it does stay nailed down to corners pretty well. Feels very solid. Overall I'm pleased with the car. It's nice to be able to drive around and not watch the gas gauge go down.

I read the same mag.But the yenko camero was the fasted one of the bunch. The s2000 was the only import that was even in the 13's and it was a 13.9 at that. The yenko was 13.7.I figured the movie was pretty much gonna be nothing but BS.But thats ok tho.Let all the ricers think they can beat any stang/camero/trans-am they run into. Now few will win but those are the ones that threw in the money to really make them fast.

Hey guys, whata you think of these wheels on my car? I was going to go with the 99 cobras, but got to thinking that I've really not seen to many foxes with the 35th anniversary wheels. Did a quick and dirty photo shop of them. Take a look.

Brian

I have a set of those wheels sitting in my garage, mine are the machined ones with the light grey inserts. I don't have any center caps though, I can get all four at ford employee price though. If you are interested make me an offer.

 I must say that car is a pleasure to drive on long trips and gets 22mpg with A/C on. There is nothing like a full frame car.:nice: Not to mention you tend to get cutoff less in a big boat. I guess the sight of that big chrome bumper is a deterent.

BTW, the owner of the blue one is from Port St. Lucie. His car is posted on car domain so you may see it at Moroso sometime. I don't know the guy, but I like how the car isn't over done, he still has the vinyl/leather top on it.

I'm not sure what a Grand Marquis weighs, but the number I got from MSN was 3951 lbs curb weight(sounds low, as most of the guys on the crown vic board say they go about 4300) for an 88.

Yep that's about what my GT averages(but A/C is broken), I just prefer the big car ride for long trips, especially when travelling with wife and 2 kids. I didn't hear "Are we there yet?" or "Tell him/her to leave me alone" not once:lol:

BTW, eric are you going to get to fix your 'river barge' anytime soon?
