merkur block identical to ford?

is the merkur block identical to the ford 2.3 turbo? exchangable components for both?

i knew it was..mercury, ford..whats the difference..but i was just wondering if there might be model speciffic parts or what not

Not Mercury, Merkur...totally different branding. It's all Ford parts, though.

Should be totally the same from what I know. I'll be using a Merkur engine for my swap from an XR4Ti.

i thought that merkur was a model of mercury..well i'll be damned learn something every day..but good to know..thanks!

The block/head is the same but the Merkurs had a 90 degree elbow on the oil filter which is pretty trick and can be pulled off and used on any 2.3T. This allowed better filtering of the oil but I get it screwed up on how it helps. Its something like the stock location doesn't filter all the oil because the filter points to the oil pan and has trouble getting in the filter. Some crap like that
