Hey guys, I'm a little strapped for cash since I'm about to go off to college, so my question is, would it sound like as$ if I were just to replace the stock midpipe w/ a catted X and not the stock catback?

It would sound better, but the stock mufflers should go too if you are getting a new midpipe. Just get 2 new mufflers put on at the same time too instead of paying 500 bucks for a whole new cat back. As far as X-pipes, SLP makes good hi-flow catted ones, and the design of the junction is similar to that of Dr. Gas, which is probably the best. I have SLP, and it fit real nice with good clearance and a killer sound.

anybody else done this or have an opinion, also, do X pipes really get that much more power than H pipes? That was my main concern, but if they're pretty close I may just go with an H. Thanks for any info

Does anyone know if Magnaflow sells the magnapacks without the entire catback? Or is it impossible to weld in the packs to the stock catback?

I bought just the mangapacks and welded them into my stock catback. I got mine from www.ninosport.com. $80 each--free shipping this past Christmas.

Weld in after market mufflers will make your car sound better than adding an X to the stock exhaust. I welded in flows before I put in my o/r x.

It will sound much better. If you are really strapped for cash just get an offroad H, and switch out your stock h-pipe with that. Keep your stock cat-back.

Aftermarket cat-backs do almost nothing performance wise as opposed to changing out a midpipe with 4 or 6(cant remember) cats on it.

Do you think your car sounds good now, but needs more volume? O/R H is probably the best answer.
