I just ordered an X-Pipe from Mustangtuning and did not order the MIL's. I know the light will come on but do the Fords go into limp mode like the Chevys? If it's just the light coming on I can live with that for a few days but if the car will not run right I'll order them. Thanks for the help.

Is it because the light? Chevys are bad for their Check engine light. They are a pain in the ass at night. Do you have experience with the MIL you wire yourself? $59 is alot if you can do it for $15 the hard way.

The was a thread about a week ago about handling the MILs the cheap way. I think one guy went to Radio Shack and got his all setup for $6. It was an interesting thread-worth looking at.

Yes, it's because it throws a CEL. Even when you reflash the computer, it will take a while, but it will still throw a CEL.

The $59 MIL elims are plug and play, whereas a DIY takes some time to perform.

At $60 it's worth looking into making your own.
See: http://www.cougardb.com/howtoshow.php?howtoid=8
These will cost you about $8. It's worth a try. I am.

I bought my pipe used with the homemade MILS. They work perfectly, and cost the owner 6$ at Radio Shack.

You have a 2 year old car. Don't ride around with the check engine light on!

So the rear o2 censors will not affect the driveabilty of the car. make it think it is running lean or rich?

Correct, the rear O2 sensors monitor the catalytic convertors only.

It all comes down to how long you want to stare at the bright yellow check engine light. I lasted for about a month before I snapped. Might as well get either the splice or plug in ones so the check engine light can come on if theres a problem somewheres else.

I assume you bought a O/R xpipe.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the splice kind and if for some reason they or I am not successful I'll go the other route. MCM. I shot you a PM. I need them.

Mil eliminators are NOT required, but you need to have your chip re-flashed to fool the computer. I've got Steeda's on mine. A little trim on the tabs is all that is required for them to plug in. Paid $65 bucks for them.

I have an SLP X-Pipe full assembly and my check engine light has been on for almost a year now. I have had it read and its because of the high flow cats no big deal just an annoying light. It will go away as soon as I get my SCT tuner chip. It won't affect anything.

BS, I saw a very similar question a while back and the responses were totally different. I know ive been running my car with the SES on since I got my prochamber, and since then I have to warm it up a few minutes in the morning otherwise it sputters and wants to die..... I ive seen several people saying the same thing happened to them and that I needed to get the SES light off.
