I have a 68 mustang coupe with a built 302, but I have a problem as Im finishing up going through little things I find that my OEM ford side mirror for the driver side door is about an inch short of fitting in the holes that are in the door So the way I see it I have a couple options find a mirror that has a longer base. Does anybody know of one from a different model the stock 67-68 from mounting hole to mounting hole measures 6inches I need 7''. Or i can redrill the door and mount the mirror I have and live with extra hole until I get around to fixing the door. Any input. Thanks

68 Stanger;

I have a 68 coupe with original driver's side mirror and the hole spacing is 6 inches. If your mirror has a hole spacing of 7 inches, you may have the wrong mirror for your 68 coupe.

yes my mirror has a hole spacing of 6 inches but the previous owner, or someone drilled holes at 7inches in the door. I don't know what i should do about it at the moment.

Your mirror base may be long and wide enought to cover that present hole. try to position the mirror and see if you can cover the existing hole or holes and drill a hole for the correct mirror that you have. If not you can bondo the hole and use touch up paint of the correct color to cover up the incorrect holes.
