My 04 gt has been having a rough idle for the last few months and it has a slight misfire which you can hear popping in the exaust.I took it to one dealer and the tech that worked on it said it was from the k&n filter,oil on the MAF.He cleaned it,did nothing.The tech that worked on the car had only been there for 3 days and looked like he was barley old enough to drive.I went in for the 1-2 clash in the trans which I think Im going to just refill with gm syncromesh and see if that helps.Alos went in for the misfire,popping sound from the suspension when going over bumps,and a creaking sound when braking.The dealer calls me the next day and says there is NOTHING wrong with the car.BS.The tech rode with me and verified all the above.So they gave a trans problem,driveability,suspension,and brake problem to a 3 day old tech.The guy told me that this was the first shop he has worked at since graduating from U.T.I.Anyway,I bring it too a good dealer that my buddy works at.I drop off the car and they call back later that day and tell me the car needs both lower control arms up front,something with the steering rack( I think bushings)and about 10 other things that I cant remember because it was over the phone( I think they were mostly TSB's that I cant find).The service manager told me that they did a cyl power balance test and found out that #8 cyl is the one misfiring,no big deal COP's seem to crap out alot.The guy calls me back again later and told me that they swapped the COP and plug and it changed nothing.Not good.He says hes waiting for a card for the NVH (Anyone who has worked for ford knows what these are)and waiting for a call from ford engineers about the engine.Im guessing a valve isnt seating.I dont know if they will put in a new long block or just replace the head if the head is bad.I dont know if they ever did a CLT yet.The car has 20,000 on it and is BABIED.I bought it with very low miles and change the oil every 3,000 with M1.Its been garage kept and I maintain the piss out of it.This really ticks me off that a car with such low mileage has so many problems.Anyone ever had engine problems early with there 2v?TIA!
are you looking for advice from a ford tech on here or just venting?
it's warranty so just sit back, relax and politely request another tech to look at it. nothing you can do to speed up the process really. they'll get it figured out
It's ok for the guy to vent. That's one of the things this forum is for. I'm sure they'll get it taken care of. Sounds like you may have some type of engine damage. It's under warranty and everything will work out. Good luck. Pearl02.
It is possible that you have a valve sealing problem. But it's also possible that if this misfire was going on for awile the unburned fuel may have washed the rings down in that cylinder, if the misfire was bad enough you will even get a lot of unburned fuel in the crankcase contaminating the oil and this can also cause problems.

Thanks alot.I have not thrown an SES yet and a bad COP dont always throw a code.I learned that with my 99 sho.The dealer is supposed to call me back tommorow.Ive noticed the car has lost alot of power too,when it gets around 4500-5000 rpms,it falls on its face.Ill let you know what happens.Thanks!
just swapping the COP will just eliminate the possibilty that the COP is bad. coudl be a bad plug, injector, injecto wiring, COP wiring, ECU injector driver, or as you said a valve or even a leaking ring. i would ask them to check all of those before putting a motor in. unless you dont mind the downtime, in which case a new motor woudl be effin sweet
Ehh,I dont mind the down time,the dealer seems to be really good.A new engine would be great though.I know they put on a new COP on #8 and it didnt change anything though.
