If you get a tuner like a DiabloSport Predator for around $350, you can do a bunch of things plus

a) you won't need a Speedcal for #3 (around $70)
b) you won't need MIL Eliminators for #4 (around $50)
c) you won't need the TA in #6 (around $120)

good observation, 200 points for you!

That was my reason for getting the Predator first, before any of those other mods. Plus, I'm still under warranty. The Predator tune is completely reversible in 2 minutes. You can't do that with mechanical mods.

1) shifter
2) clutch pedal adjuster
3) exhaust
4) suspension
5) tires (pretty much anything is better than the stock Goodyear crap)
6) brighter headlights/foglights
7) intake
8) appearance mods that suit your taste

personally, while the above lists are good mine is different....

1. Weld in mufflers or a cat back, the sound change is more noticable
2. K&N (dont waste time on CAI or whatever until you really want it, personally its last on my list and for looks not performance)
3. Pulleys
4. after about 5k miles of you driving it, get a shifter and/or gears, this wait will have given you enough time to come accustomed to the feel, so the upgrade in this time frame will be much more noticable and more appreciated
5. all the other crap (tuner, midpipe, headers, heads, cam, etc...)

Hmmm, why should a person wait to drive 5000 miles to get accustomed to the old shifter and then buy a new one? Im not trying to argue, I just dont understand

Are the stock goodyear tires actually bad?

reason is b/c if you just buy a new shifter the first day, you wont appreciate it as much and your thinking would be "i paid $170 for this?!?!?" whereas if you got used to driving with that slushy stock shifter, then switched, you would appreciate it more and it would be more valuable to you.
and no, the stock tires arent THAT bad............if you drive like my grandpa or you wanna practice your fishtails however, if you really want to take advantage of the stock torque, you do need to upgrade the tires. i changed mine out to Kuhmo Ecstas at ~15k miles and the difference was night and day! the wear is surprisingly good too. ive got ~28k miles now and still have a good amount of tread left. maybe 60% and i like to have fun w/ em too Kuhmos arent even THAT good of a tire, although they have gotten better from "the poor man's rubber"

I had my car a week before I swapped out the shifter. I put around 100 miles on it. So I'm thinking 5000 might be a little much. As for the tires, mine came with the Kumhos.

As Derekstang said, the stock tires aren't that bad in dry pavement. But they absolutely BLOW in the rain. You will start hydroplaning after 55mph. So I guess if your car sees a lot of rain, tires will be one of your top priorities.

Just saying the max bene's of an aftermarket shifter are best felt AFTER you get accustomed to the stocker. I had an aftermarket ripper that I borrowed from a friend for 300 miles 2k into the mileage and I just didn't appreciate it... At 30k I just put on a UPR Blue Thunder and its a world of difference even though most like the B&M much better. I just think that certain mods are better appreciated when youve actually realized theres a problem with the stock parts. Make sense?

I ran my stockers for 22k they were weak compared to my Kuhmos and thats sad... I would have got better tires, but I still ahd a mod list to complete.
