Ok, I have a 97 GT, and I have added one of the little intake chips and a K&N Air Filter. I wanted ask for some suggestions on what are the first mods I should do, preferably some not too expensive since I'm a bit low on cash right now.

Thnx!

Yeah, I was planning on getting some flowmasters, but I'm kinda looking for some smaller mods first, while I save up for the flows. any other stuff?

Sorry to break it to ya guys, but it's an Auto Transmition. I know, I know, but it wasn't exactly my choice. So lets keep future mod suggestions in that range

About 500 bucks, but keep in mind I'm new at this, and if it's something I cant do myself, installation would need to be included in the 500. Thanks :/

Even if it's a bit more, go ahead and feel free to suggest, looking to learn.

personnally i would suggest gears (4.10s) i bought mine online from Motive performance. Got the FRPP gears for $149 which is $20 to $40 cheaper than anywhere else i have seen. install supposedly should run from 200 to 250. I haven't gotten them installed yet but i was quoted 250. many have said this is one of the first mods you should do to your car.

again, my .02

As for the gears, 4.10 or 4.30 and what exactly do these do? how do they help my car? and what kind of changes will I see?

i definatly agree w/ these guys, gears are a great bang for your buck IMO. dont fear the gear though, go 4.10s atleast. unless ofcorse you have future plans to go w/ a blower or something. 4.10s are great if your just gonna stay N/A

Gears help your car accelerate much faster, thus getting you into the powerband quicker. Its a great mod, should be the first thing you do!

4.30s are steeper than 4.10s making you accellerate quicker. but at the same time your engine will be at higher rpms during cruising speeds. its all depends on how you drive your car. if you are on the highway alot, personally i would go with the 4.10s. thats what i did.

Naa I"m not on the Highway too much, so I guess I'll go with 4.30's. Can anyone explain what Ice Cold said? Also it asks me something about adding master bearing kit, do/should I get that?

yes, the master bearing kit replaces bearings, seals, and such that is involved with replacing your gears. Being that your car is a 97 im guessing it has some miles on it. It should only run you about $89 for the complete kit. Also, get your gears installed professionally. dont do it yourself. the tolerances with gears must be withing 1/1000ths of an inch. If you do it yourself and dont do it correctly, you could get gear whine at a minimum and quite possibly do damage to your rear end.

Ice cold said you could get 4.10s or 4.30s, and an off road X-pipe and MILs from UPR.

Do you plan on supercharging? if so, i would think twice about the 4.30s.

Not sure, maybe eventually, why would that matter?

Also if I get the 4.30's, what do you think about these? :

Ok so I'll look for some 8.8, Now should I really get 4.10's or .30's? I rather have acceleration really, but you mentioned something about 10's being better if I ever get a supercharger. Also is there any extra stuff I need to get with the gears? I know about the bearing kit, but what else?
