Moderators,

I've noticed that street racing has been banned on here for some time, but why haven’t speed-enhancing modifications been banned as well?

Speed-enhancing parts are strictly banned in most states and only OEM or OEM specs replacements are technically allowed on the street. The removal of catalytic converters that are spoken about on here theoretically should be banned as well, whether or not your area has emissions testing or not, all cars came from the factory with 4-6 cats depending if you had a Cali special and should remain that way if we were to abide by the law. Any car that is driven on the street should be 100% compliant if we want to be do-gooders on this board, yet I see just the opposite. If we want to be technical about remaining law-abiding, then why is Stangnet still allowing the promotion of illegal modifications that are designed for “off-road” use only and may instigate a street racing situation. I would guess that all parts should have CARB cert numbers if we were to be PC.

I’ve also noticed as it was brought up on another thread that we are to promote the well-being of the sport, but if we are truly worried about some of the younger generation(s) emulating us by racing on the street (using this as an example) why wouldn't they install a non-catted H-pipe and pollute our air as well? Installing a higher gear ratio resulting in a loss of mpg on the highway, which indirectly is supporting foreign oil and altering our mpg ratings; does this not matter as well? Does this not affect everyone in a negative way?

I would like an explanation from the powers to be on here as to why only ban street racing, yet most speed-enhancing parts are just as illegal, can or may provoke street racing, and yet we talk about such items on here all of the time and turning a blind eye.

While not only street racing can/may hurt innocent bystanders, so could the raw HC's CO's and other pollutants that we spew from our exhaust, whether it’s only 500 miles a year or 10,000. These are contributors of Ozone action days, noise pollution and other such negative associations with our sport, so why allow these to continue on Stangnet?

This thread is for moderators of Stangnet only, please don’t post in this thread if you are not a moderator or owner (co-owner) of this site. I would like this to be for the well-being of the public forum members, possibly made into a thread sticky for all to understand why the rules have been established as they have and the importance of following those rules on here.

Thank you for your time in advance.

im not a mod, but honestly if you have a problem with people modding their car then why do you yourself have 2 vehichles that create more than factory horsepower? sure they get good MPG 430 hp and 23 mpg is pretty damn good. but you can still street race with good gas mileage... so aren't you kind of breaking the rules of what you just spouted off about? hrmm practice what you preach!

Yeah, I is teh r-tard. I ment Prius. They dont pollute.
Unless you count the excessive mining for their batteries or the fuel to transport their parts from all over the world to be made and then shipped all over the world again.

EDIT: Ass! I did say Prius!

I find it amusing that a person with a blown Fox with HCI and gears is complaining about cars with the same mods or people posting about those mods.

Its like me telling someone to stop smoking, lose weight and stop being dumb.

Street racing kills. Modifying does not. Not everyone who modifys their car street races or even races at all. For most its a hobby. If you didnt want people to respond you should have pm'ed

guns kill, but owning one is not, perhaps thats the wrong analogy.

if being able to mod your vehicle was prohibited from this site, then all we would have would be a bunch of stock rebuild threads and where is the enthusiasm in that?

We would also have more "cleaning" threads and "LED lights" threads.

Where is the fun in "I just got a new stock air box!"?
*poking fun at Mike*

90LX, at least they also use 300C's with variable displacement. Of course the Navigators and Suburbans offset it a little.

BTW, global warming is a farce created by Green Peace to sell more Earth Day cards and T-shirts.

LEDs and HIDS put out more light than stock and if not done correctly could potentially cause blindness and therefore an accident. They should not be allowed.

poorly done lighting mods are a hallmark or young or inexperienced owners of japanese vehicles. therefore you must suffer with the horrible lighting that came equipped stock on your mustang.

I see the point trying to be made, but I think there is a difference in street racing vs modding a car. I know people who have cars modded to no end, but rarely if ever disobey traffic laws. Sure they have no cats, pollute and are illegal vehicles, but the owner doesn't hot rod, street race or even speed in the cars.

I see both sides of this argument. I think the choice is to the owners of the site, not even so much the moderators. If the site owner wants to ban owners of green foxes, well he has that right? He can choose to not allow street racing topics and I can see why.

Oh btw, Im not a moderator, I keep my grudge racing to the track (I won't say whether or not I have participated in a stoplight battle or two) and I try to obey the rules here...

I love you, Bill.

I believe the guys above me explained the reasons pretty well.

Also, Bill is right. You should have PMed this to a mod if you didn't want anyone else's opinions.

I understand the point he is trying to make, but for a majority of the mods made to the vehicles can be classified as "factory replacement parts" while technically its against the law to mod a vehicles its not however against the law to replace fail parts of your vehicles with aftermarket replacement parts, shocks struts, intake, exhaust etc etc
