Yea, but it looks so much better. lol

I don't know if I already replied way back, I'm too lazy to check. But here goes:

Mac Equal-length headers (previous owner installed). For the love of all that is holy in this world, don't do it!!!!!!

 :bang: :bs: :notnice: :( :nono: :nonono: :chair: :Damnit: :uzi: crapola  :damnit: :dead:

I gotta say my home made cai is my best bang for the buck spent mod :nice:

My cai makes a very noticeable difference when the temps are cool :)

When temps are higher ... no gain of course :(

Grady

Dyno or track tested? What HP or E.T gain? Cold vs hot? If it works you should patent and sell it cuz anything else right now is total crapola.

Well Keith

This is kinda what I experienced with my simple home made cai

Verification was neither by dyno or track

But it was more noticeable than pulleys which although most would
say are a subtle gain, time and time again peeps have seen 1 to 1 1/2
tenths of a reduction in their 1/4 mile et.

More importantly ... it was definitely noticeable and for a mod that is of that
nature ... it is gonna have to be about 10rwhp or perhaps a little bit more.

I don't feel that line of reasoning is all that far fetched

The first time I ran it was a cool evening. I had things setup so I could
quickly switch between my old intake pipe/filter that got its supply from
the engine compartment and the new cai that draws air from the inside
of the fender.

No mistake about it ... there was a gain with the new cai and cooler air
when I switched them out for a comparison that evening.

It should not be surprising as all drag racers know you get quicker
in the evenings when the temps drop.

Again ... there is no or very little gain if the ambient temps are high.

I only got about 15 bux in it so a gain of around 10rwhp makes it
a pretty good value IMHO.

I regret buying my BBK equal length shorties and catted X-pipe, and somewhat on my 3-chamber Flowmasters. The mufflers sound good, but with the x-pipe it sounds way too raspy. Plus, I am sure the shorties did almost nothing power-wise..................and buying an slow-o-matic :-(

Well, it also may be hard to dyno test that anyway because it may depend upon rush of colder air inside the fender too. But I can tell you the MAC CAI was crap and it made not one bit difference for $169. In fact, the guys at the dyno said it made things worse because of the bend in the pipe. I seem to rememer us talkin bout this b4 Grady and if I remember correctly, your CAI is straight with no bend. I have not seen any aftermarket like yours.

Yes Keith ... no bends :D

A lot of these store bought cai's I've seen on these boards seem to
have an S bend

The only bend I got is the elbow itself.
and
That bend is less severe than the bend with the Fox tb conversion.

Priority was placed on function and simplicity when putting it together.

I regret i didnt buy pokageeks block to start off with... but i learned how easy SBF engines are by watching my friend tare down that other peice of ****... I bet you didnt ever think i was going to be the one to buy that block did ya keith??? I told you when i had the cash it was sold :p

This is a awesome thread. I just recently got my gts. But this is not my first car to mod. Ive had Camaros and went to through the too big of a cam and gears for daily driveability..learned that with that car...then got in to swaped crx's and civic hatchbacks...wasted money on too stiff of suspension set up(coil overs with really high spring rates) went back to coil springs and tokickos...wasted money on stupid clear lights...wasted money on cold air intakes...which dont really add much hp..but make annoying noise. Windows tinted so dark you cant see out of the thing at night....

After driving lowered cars for about 7 years I decided on my mustang not to lower it....Im not putting any kind of loud stereo in it since my 1 1/2 year old rides in the back as its our "family car"....My goals are boring...but suit me fine as its a gonna be a daily driver for many years I hope...so Im just gonna "restore" worn out parts...repaint it black again myself...maybe Cobra bumpers...Bullit style rims in black...posibly a vortech super charger and different cat back and maybe h-pipe.
