Hey all. Have a question? I want to put a supercharger on my cay and have been doing some research and have got it down to either the Mongoose kit or a Kenny Bell Supercharger. I like the idea of having all that power down low with the KB but with my traction problem I almost think the Mongoose would be nice because it doesn't get into it until like 3000rpm. Also I like the idea of ditching my plastic intake with th KB but the Mongoose comes with a new fuel pump and the KB doesn't. What do you all think? KB or Mongoose?????

KB - the KB comes with the KB boost a pump anyway, and, as you noted, the new intake is a huge plus.

How about the best of both worlds! Take your car to MPH and have Tim do a KB Mongoose! End of Thread

I would go with the mongoose kit. Im not sure what your looking for but if i did a supercharger i would want which ever one will give me the best track times. I could be wrong but it seems to me that most screw type blowers are dyno queens but dont deliver at the track for the amount of power and torque they are making. Although i dont remember what centrifical blower cars turn at the track with similar power to kb cars so i might just be assuming something totally wrong

I'm staying out of this one. These KB vs the World threads always turn into a pissing match.

Im not trying to start anything and am not trying to say the kenne bell is not as good as a vortec or procharger. Im just trying to say centrifical blowers are better at the track. It seems that most times i see for kenne bell cars and 03/04 cobras are kinda slow for how much power they are making. But maybe thats just the nature of 4.6 cars and i also am not sure what the average times are for centrifical blower cars but i was under the assumption they are generally better for the track.

In that thread he made 110 more hp and yet was only 3 tenths faster with the kenne bell. just the heads and cams alone should make more than 3 tenths difference.

If you want a track car, go with the Mongoose. If you want a kick a$$ street car, go with the KB. Centri will give you more peak power, but only at high rpm, KB I get into boost all the time. It depends what you want from your stang, better times, or more fun on the street.

Either way you will be happy. I have a Novi Mongoose kit and it rocks. I start to see boost at about 2500 rpm and builds very fast up to 14 psi @ 6000.

KB's come on with full boost right away wich would be cool too. BEst advice is to try and dive both and decide which you like more.

I have since upgraded to the 2.2. The 1.7 started to layover around 5400. With the cams it just flatten out. The 2.2 has 100rwh & tq more at 6400 than the 1.7.
It keeps on pulling.

The 1.7 at the track seamed to give up at the top end. All the excitment on launch & through the 1/8th. After that kinda a lost its acceleration.
Lots of IAT heat. Timming was being puller (this is with a 14#) .

The Vortec was much easier to drive at the track.. Did not have any traction problems. In fact I had to make the tires spin a little otherwise it would bog. Had et streets at 16psi.

With around 500tq at 3000rpm I launched close to idle. Still evidence of tire slip since I was at almost 95mph at the 1/8.

Will be interesting with the 2.2 at the track.

i have never been in a mod motor mustang with a KB, novi 2000 yes and it was fast after 3000 rpms. I was in a 5.0 fox with KB and that was a tq monster snapped you in the seat. My buddy has a lightning with the
kb replacement blower and that thing is sick....so i'm torn between them. I've been trying to decide for a couple months which to get....i was going to get a positive displacent blower but now i'm leaning towards the vortech. choices are hard...
