Does anyone here have clearance problems between their Monte Carlo bar and the distributor? My back wires rub on it right off the cap. I have to squeeze my cap and wires on. I'm about to pull the thing off. Any suggestions?

monte carlo bar

I have a curved one on my '68 and it doesn't interfer with the distributor.

Agreed, switch to the curved one.

Here is the one in my 65' with a 393 and big arsed duraspark distributor cap. The cap is very easy to remove, as is the whole distributor when needed:

Get rid of that straight bar and go for the bent one. Sure, the rigidity is, reportedly, not as good, but at least this won't happen to you...

I have a straight bar in my '70 but I put a slight bend to fit it behind the dist. No rubbing issues but a curved bar is a good way to clear not only your dist but also your air cleaner if it sits low.

The TCP monte carlo brace mounts further forward on the inner fender, is straight, and will clear your distributor.
