So I got a new clutch installed 2 weeks ago. On my way home from work my clutch pedal became very hard to push. I came to a stop and went to put it in gear but could not push the pedal down. I pushed it hard until I heard a bang and the pedal went limp. I pulled the pedal up with my foot and it went back into position and I took of with the pedal feeling better than ever, next time I came to a stop it did the same thing but this time the pedal did not work better and just became impossible to push without the bang and snap noise. The cable is not snapped, the clutch fork is ok so im leaning towards the quadrent needing to be replaced. What do you think?

Disconnect the cable from the quadrant undr the dash.
Does the pedal move freel? If yes.
Remove the other end of the cable from the transmission. Now move the cable back and forth.
Is it binding at all with both ends disconnected? If No.
The problems has something to do with the clutch fork, throwout bearing, bearing retainer, or pressure plate.

Pedal moves freely, no binding in the cable either. The pedal will not lock until it is racheted all the way into the up position where it should be. When it gets to that position it is locked in place and if you push it down hard it will pop out and the pedal will move freely(with the cable attached) until you pull it all the way back up, then it will lock again. The clutch has been in the car for almost 2 weeks and the pedal has always been hard but has gotten harder and now wont even move. I broke it in properly, still have not gotten on it. What could cause such a problem?

Ok

If you pull the pedal all the way up without the cable attached what happens?

It is possible that the TB wasn't sitting correctly on the fork and has slowly moved until it's bound up at times.

With the cable disconnected from the fork, can you move the fork back and forth freely?

If the pedal is pulled all the way up it locks in place, with or without the cable attached. There is that little part on the backside of the quadrent that you can push up and down to release the quadrent...thats what seems to be getting locked. I can unlock the pedal by hand by pushing that part down. The clutch fork moves back and forth freely, does not seem to be a problem. The locking clutch pedal is why I suspected the quadrent. Anymore thoughts?

I'd replace the quadrant with an aftermarket unit and also install a firewall cable adjuster. That will get rid of your problems. The stock quadrants suck.

I ordered a quadrent from UPR. My mechanic that installed the clutch suspects a defective pressure plate and is installing a whole new clutch assembly tomorrow so we will see what happens. Thanks

Good luck. I hope the problems go away. Post up in here with whatever the problem was. I'm interested to know.
