First of all... I have a 95 vert stock with 202k on it... ive been noticing a few small things... just picked it up about a month ago... $3900 mint shape...

Probe

Grinding noise often when acceling through turns... Its slighty noticible... at first i thought it was the tranny but it doesent happen all the time... its kind of like a chatter...

Squeek when shifting hard inbetween gear... (Probally slipping clutch)

Sometimes under hard accel the engine makes a knocking like sound but doesent do it often i dont know how to really describe it kinda like a rattle like knock... The only think i can figure is maybe something sticking or an injector is starting to fail...

Sometimes the car runs hot when i really get on but it is missing the front valance... i think that might be the problem...

I wanna start modding but wanna get all the problems straitened out first... Got a new clutch on the way... wanna pick up a h pipe and maybe this thing will keep up with my old probe... Untill i get some money to really mod this thing... damn college and books being expensive as hell..

Any help will be Awesome

I'd guess that this is the posi clutch packs or diff.

Detonation or pre-ignition. Very common on our cars. You should run a higher octane, clean your maf, ensure sensors are working correctly, and/or retard your spark. Don't continue to run your engine like this!

Yup, sounds like pinging to me. Do a search here for "pinging" to find out how to fix it. Start with cleaning the maf/iat and a complete tune-up.

the weird thing is i only heard that loud noise when ive been acceling like 3 times... but enought to make me wonder... hopefully a tune up will cure it of the problem other wise this engine is damnnnnn strong for 200k i cant belive it... When it does make the noise i have seen blackish grey smoke out the back... I mean im not completely retarted when it comes to cars... but its things like this that i dont know about... not used to rear wheel and big motors... my only other mustang expirence was my first car wich was a 3.8 84 auto... with a weird ass throttle body injection set up

that sounds like what i have, knocking and blow-by under load.

knocking, as opposed to pinging, probably means worn out crank, rod, and/or cam bearings. if that is it, you need to rebuild the bottom end

sort of expected on a 200K mile engine ...

doesent sound like a knock... i know a knock when i hear one... threw a rod on the probe... lol its more of a clang then a bottom end knock... if it was a knock id probally hear it more often then once in a blue moon under full load... hmmm from what im reading about the maf ive been starting to think... and i get a random cel flash here and there it will stay for a little then go away... maybe my maf is going bad... i gotta pull the code to find out whats up with it but when i stopped at the shopp i hang out at i cant figure out how to work the crazy snap on code reader with 3948293048 different carts to insert... lol... im friends with a guy that owns a shop... he lets me use the lifts and what not and i go on junk yard runs for him and send my friends his way... good trade off...

ive put 2k miles on the car since ive had it... and had to add a 1/2 a quart and that brought it up past where it was when i bought it... so probally like 1/2 a quart every 3k... This car was a 2 owner the woman i bought it from owned it from 15k on it... she had a 100+ mile trip to work... thats y it has so many miles... i dont think the car saw over 3k till i got my hands on it

hmmm. but noise and smoke out the back under load while accelerating sure sounds like bottom end issues and blow-by to me.

i hope that is not what it is ... good luck with it, whatever it is.

This was a guess - I keyed in on the part that it happens when cornering. Since you said that, I assumed that you meant ONLY when cornering. The diff has to slip when cornering, and perhaps that is part or all of your problem.

You should consider changing the clutch packs, they are only like about $50.00. They usually only last about 30000-50000 miles (if that). You can tell if yours are bad if you only have one wheel spinning when doing a burnout (what, me officer?!?! ) You'll also need new gear lube and friction modifer for the rear, along with some RTV to reseal the cover.

Now, if this is something your considering doing, then perhaps it is also a good time to swap out the gears for something better, like some 3.73's. If you are going to have it half apart anyway... Search for gears on the forum and you'll find all you need to know. Gears should be your first 'performance' mod as they will give you the best 'bang for your buck'.

yea i cant decide on 410's or 373's for my app... i drive at the track alot but this is my daily driver... and will the 373s out of a f 150 or what ever truck they came in work.... i do leave 2 rubber trails when i burned out... i want sure if the 95's were posi when i bought it so i checked... lol
There was a noise comming from the rear so i did pop it open already... there was like no fluid in it at all... so i had to fill it... but everything seemed to be ok inside no metal or anything... just the fluid was very dark like chocolate milk... well what was left of it

*Update*
Flushed out coolant and put in new top and bottom hoses... no more over heating problems..!

Grinding still continues probally from rear... think its clutch pack related

Pinging still going on a little after using some lucas fuel system cleaner...
Im gonna try new plugs and wires and clean the maf.... at 200k this thing probally needs a damn good tune up

Car pop'd out of first today for some reason... first time that has happened... but i dont think i had it all the way in gear... Decided to put in more break fluid for the clutch... but... forgot it was a mustang and not hydrolic clutch... lol

New CLutch is on the way... Custom angled shifter.... And H pipe... Time to get this thing moving
