More work on Sadie

I got the console installed, but I couldn't find the shifter indicator light so I'll eventually have to pull the whole thing out again when I do find it (I know it's around here somewhere and I found the little plastic bar, just not the light). But it's okay for now.

I got my stereo installed, but it has had a good, long life and needs to be put out to pasture soon. At least I'll have some tunes, though, and it's better than the world's crappiest radio that was in there before. I still need to redo the package tray and when I do that I'll probably use the speakers and boxes that I have in old Sadie. I just need to get a big piece of hard board and figure out how I want to mount the speakers. I'm not sure if I want them completely hidden below the tray or with just the covers showing. But for now, I just hooked up the existing speakers (which really aren't that bad).

I put old Sadie's rear view mirror in because I like the style better than what was in new Sadie. I'll eventually have to get a new base because it's pitted like crazy, but it's functional.

I put on new wiper blades. Those cut-to-fit refill things are a pain in the butt to get on, but I like my metal wiper thingies. I replaced old Sadies with the plain black ones and regretted it.

I also messed with the idle so I think I got that fixed.

And I found a spare fire extinguisher in the garage that I threw in there (just in case - seen too many pics of horribly crispy mustangs).

LOL. Yeah, it'll get done eventually, but there's a few things I need to get done before then. Actually, I should have done some things before I spent time on the console & radio, but darn it, I want my music and a place to put my drink.

Besides, I still haven't found the material I want. All the places near by have a crappy upholstry selection so I'll probably have to make a trip to the city and see what I can find there.

I think the next easy project I'll do will be the package tray. I came up with an interesting (or at least I think so) way to do the speakers.

Actually, I think I've decided on Troq Thrust D's (you gotta admit, they look great on Mustangs), but to make them a little different, I'm going to paint the spokes either a darker grey or black.

Oh, and I went to the city and ended up buying some material for the seats. I still like the stuff I had before better, though. So I'm going to double check and see if I have enough of it left and if not, I'll use the new stuff. If I do have enough of the old left, I'll use it and mom will make seat covers for the Jeep out of the new stuff.

Also, does anyone have a pic of a white 67 or 68 coupe with the tail light panel blacked out (preferrably with a black vinyl top)? Dad's been trying to convince me that it looks awsome and I did a photochop and I'm still not entirely convinced. Maybe on a darker car, but it seems to stand out too much on a white car. If I can't find a good pic of another car with it, I might have to take some rattle cans to old Sadie.

It's supposed to be almost 60* on Monday so I think we're going to clean out the garage and try to find my console light. I also think I'm going to do some shopping around for a new stereo soon. If I find that light, I'll have to pull out the console to put it in anyway so I might as well install a new stereo at the same time.
