Hi all I just recently rebuilt a 87 5.0 motor for my 67 cougar. The block is bored .030 and the crank is turned .010/.010. I got about 75 miles and now I can hear a knock coming from the motor. It sounds kind of like a rod knock to me but the question I have is could a rod be knocking with a little over 60 pounds of oil pressure and when it warms up to operating tempature 50 to 55pounds this is with a aftermarket gauge. Car does have a c4 checked tourque converter nuts and they were all tight noise seems to get louder when you let off the gas. I can't ever remember having a motor knock with good oil pressure before. I put a new 50 oz balancer and flywheel on it and changed the distrbuter gear for the factory roller cam and just changed the oil and didn't see anything coming out when i drained it. motor also has the manual fuel pump now I had researched and read that somes time they can make a noise like a rod knocking.
