Heres one for all you experts. I have a 69 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland. The engine is installed and the car is about ready for body work. Here is the problem, the car has FPA headers and I just noticed that there is a slight rub on the left side between one tube and the steering box, and I mean slight. I feel I have two options, attempt to ding the header slightly, which I don't feel is an option because it would compromise the ceramic coating. The second buy and install adjustable motor mounts and attempt to slide the engine to the right to obtain the proper clearence. My question is this how hard would it be to accomplish the motor mount swap with the engine installed and once they were installed how difficult would be to maneuver the engine to the right to get the clearence I need. I have never worked with adjustable mounts. Thanks in advance.

Third choice. Place 1/4" plywood between the headers and gearbox. Force the header hard into the gearbox. Then force the header back the other way, equally. Since steel is actually a plastic, bendable material, you should then have adequate clearance. Notice I am not suggesting dinging the tube.

This will give you the needed clearance at zero cost. Much better than spending $200 to mount your engine crooked.
