Motorcraft fuel filter vs purolator fuel filter

I'm going to buy a new fuel filter next week and i was wondering which one is better?motorcraft or purolator. I have a motorcraft one in my car bnow that i bought a year ago. Also i'm changing it myself this time and i heard i need 2 clamps for the hoses. Where can i get those at and how much do they run?I'm trying to do everything myself when i have the right tools,i have been doing alot of things myself to my car lately too.

I am running the Purolater filter on my car. I believe that when I bought the filter, the clips came with it.

I just used a screwdriver to get the clips off. I think the correct tool is the fuel line disconnect tools though.

Where can i get the fuel line disconnect tools?Does discount auto or auto zone have them?

Yeah, they sell a plastic or steel version of the tools. Any auto parts store will have them.

If the new filter comes with new hair clips, just do your best with the old clips (I tend to break one and save one) since you can install new ones.

Both filters are very high quality IMHO. I run Purolators in most stuff unless I am placing an order online for other stuff.....
Either way should be fine.

I just found out that i have a few extra dollars laying around so i'm going to the store later and buy the fuel filter and tools to replace it. Are the tools expensive?

You could just use a screw driver, but if you want go ahead and get the disconnect tools. When you take your fuel filter off dont do what i did and get gas all over your face

The Fuel disco tools are like 5-10 bucks but as Dkins said, you dont need them. I screwdriver works, as does a pair of needle nose pliers which have a 90* bend in the tip. Look at the clips in the new filter's box and you will see how stupid simple they are.

I do have needle nose pliers which have a 90 degree bend in them,funny thng was that i found them laying around in my driveway after hurricane katrina passed by. Good thing they didn't hit my car,they landed on my dads car i between the hood and the wipers.Good thing nothing happend to his eithwer,not a scratch. Also should i turn off the fuel cut off switch and let the car turn off before i do anything?

Both fuel filters are probably equal in quality.
Purolator makes the Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter for Ford,so it could be possible that they also make fuel filters for Ford as well,though I`m not 100% sure.

Purolator is quality stuff.

I'm back,i got the puralator filter cause they were out of motorcraft.It was cheaper too and also brought the clips. Too bad it started to rain,i'll have to do it some other time

A lot of guys do that. Some simply safely drain the fuel rail at the Schrader valve - just be careful of fire hazzards, etc while doing any fuel draining.

It's a good idea to have an old rag handy even if you have already relived the pressure. I once filled my ear up with gas and amazingly it kinda burns. Who would have thought?

Why would you need a disconnect tool? All you do is pull the clips out with pliers or a screwdriver. They usually come with new clips, but the last Motorcraft I bought didn't have them.

I don't remember which brand it was, but one of them used to come with little rubber caps that you could slip on the ends of the old filter after you took the hoses off. That sure made it easier to get off without getting soaked in gas. I have used duct tape in a pinch. You have to tilt that filter to get it out of the bracket, and if you aren't quick you will get wet.

I forgot to reply back from last week.I did replace my fuel filter the same day after the rain stopped. It was a piece of cake and i barely got any gas on me.I plugged the hose with a pen and just a bit of gas dripped down my arm from the rag i used to grip the filter when i took it out.
