When I had the car painted I had the front license plate bracket removed and the holes filled. The tentative plan was moving out west somewhere and I would not have to have a front plate, so BONUS. However, I'm still in communisweath-ville. So I need a front plate for the time being. I found a bracket that will attach to the underside of the front lip and raise the plate up over the mouth of the GT bumper so when I finally get the hell out of this place, I can remove the bracket and no one will ever know it was there.

The question is....Left, right, or center?

(will try to get some pics later today)

just stick it in the window temporarily....i did that for a while and you cant even see it well behind the wiper, but still 'legal'. now its behind my seat and if i get pulled over i usually use the just detailed it excuse...and show its right here to put back on haha

I've heard the dash is not legal.

The front plate has height restrictions. Has to be XX amount of inches off the ground and a max of xx inches. I beleive the Max was only 30" or something. I forget the exact number though but the dash would put it above it

What do you mean: Tucked up behind?

Sorry...i guess it's not really an option for most people who don't have a bumper like mine.

:Word: Every western state requires front plates. The furthest west state that I know of that doesn't is Oklahoma. I know lots of people that don't run them, but I also know lots of people that have gotten a $175 ticket for not having one.

That said, center.

Illinois requires one, but the fine is only $25, if you don't have it. That being said, in the 9 years I've had my 95, it's never had a front plate and I've only been ticketed once for it.

Ohio requires them but i ran for 4 years with mine on the dash which is also a no-no and i only got pulled over once for it and got a warning. It's one of those things though that they'll use as an easy excuse to pull you over for so i put it on just to try and save myself some hassle.

MA required a front plate...but i went 9 years without one and only got stopped once and given a warning.

When i got a vanity plate, i finally put it on the front. I figured i pushed my luck far enough and didn't want to get any stupid tickets. It's a moving violation here in MA
