I am getting a new shortblock from Tim soon too, and I am springing for all the parts like billet pump gears, high capacity pan, and ARP hardware. He's built alot of fine modular motors for my friends, so I'm going to trust his judgement on what will generate the power and hold together for an extended period of near daily beatings. Of course my old shortblock would probably be fine now if I wasn't pretending to be on the autobahn the other morning after my FPDM had some issues...

Tuned down or not as soon as you run the RPMs up it will suck all of the oil out of the oil pan and leave your bearings dry. You NEED a bigger oil pan...

Plan on the billet gears and pump or plan on replacing your new motor... The stock gears can't handle it and usually are one of the first things to go...

That sounds like a real sick setup but as many have stated before it won't be as cool unless you got the gears and tranny for it. you also gotta lower it and give it a killer exhaust system

Agreed. The TT kit comes with the headers and midpipe for the turbo setup, and attached to my catback, I'd imagine the exhaust would sound fine. It also somes with coil overs for the front.

Getting a tranny and a clutch would be something i'd def want, but later on down the road as my finances become a little more "open" heh.

This plan is alot like a dream plan, but I'm going to bring it as close to reality as I can get it.. even if I have to run tuned down for awhile.. it'll still raise some eyebrows.

Then you would have another 4V.

I had the same thought with my car. But I couldn't justify selling a perfectly good car, straight frame, great suspension, awesome sound system, remote start alarm....etc....for a car that would cost MORE than modifying MY car.

So my car is sitting at MPH waiting to drop in a ton of goodies. And it's cheaper...and faster...than an 03/04 Cobra.

And it's just a GT.

What are you having them do to your GT Spreadman??

I was quoted these as the prices for what I wanted

Engine is $3480
RR is $1400
cams $599
springs $195
Longblock build $650
gaskets $423
oil pan $289
arp head studs $195
billet gears $315
oil pump $85
shop supplies $100
flywheel $329
shipping $24

I told them that I wanted to forge the internals, go with the custom ground turbo cams and the mongoose tt kit installed and tuned by them.

Do I need an oil pan, arp studs, billit gears, an oil pump, and a flywheel.. are those necessary things?

I dont want to spend a whole lot more than I need to, of course it would be great if I could afford to go 100% and upgrade every single thing.. but does this seem about right?

I'm not saying they are giving me a bunch of bull, I'm just trying to find some knowledge to why I need those at the same time.

You do need those parts. We won't install an engine we build without them.I warranty my builds and those parts help insure a long lasting engine.

haha i wouldnt expect 1000hp out of a 20k setup, i would expect a long lasting engine

im curious, how long can an engine from mph run for with a tuned engine thats used properly?

Complete motor, trans, clutch, rear end, fuel system suspention, safety equipment plus little things/things that break and having someone build it....all to support 700+rwhp....I'd set my budget to about $50,000 and look for deals.

Does that include the car? I'd have to see a breakdown of all parts, prices and labor cost.

Oh, I left brakes off the list too. Hopefully someone with a 700+rwhp car wouldn't keep the little stock brakes.

I would....seriously . I may have trouble though at the track though, trying to slow it down from 140 . If I could still stop it at the track then they are staying stock.

If the 1/4 mile is your only goal, yes they are fine. Old muscle cars stop with 4 wheel drums.

Mine aren't, and you have more power then me. If I am "on it" hard, through some spots where I am on the brakes, then back in the gas hard, by about the third corner my brakes are gone (literally, as in foot all the way to the floor, and car barely stopping). I just found a new set of Saleen/Alcons a guy has that I am going to get to solve the problem.
