MSD Ignition 8352

Hi,
I have a 65 Fastback. I bought a Ready-to-run MSD Ignition from www.mustangunlimited.com

According to Summit, coil is a suggested part.
in the install instruction; there is a connection between Distributor and Blaster. http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/msd-8350_8354_8352_frm23793.pdf
My friend, canceled coil when he changed stock distributor to Electronic one (He has 65 Fastback too).
Have I to use coil or not?

Yes, you definately need to use a coil. Your friend may have converted to an HEI setup where the coil sits in the top of the distributor cap. I personally don't like them as they are so big and bulky. Just wire your coil up per the MSD instructions and you will be fine. Also, welcome to StangNet!

IGNITION COIL KIT BLASTER 2 RED 65/85 (MSD) is OK?

Whether you reuse the old coil depends on how old it is and its condition. That new coil you linked to is fine. I am using the Blaster 3 on my own car. Considering that a new coil is not so expensive and you already have a new distributor, you might as well get a new coil to go along with it.

I'll choose MSD Ignition 8202 (Blaster 2) or MSD Ignition 8223 (Blaster 3)
Which one is the best choose according to my configuration (MSD Ready-to-Run)

You should be able to use either one. The Blaster 2 is probably just fine for your needs.

Not that it will make much difference, but I would choose the Blaster 3. The connection at the top of the coil is the same as what is on the cap of your new distributer, male HEI type connection. That might make it easier when selecting spark plug wires.

Get the Blaster 2 coil my friend, the 8202. I have the exact same distributor and the exact same coil. It's a great setup.

Nope, straight 12v source. Just make sure it is a 12v source powered by the ignition switch so that it's only getting power when the key is in the "on" and "start" positions. The distributor came with a wiring harness right? that plugs into the female plug coming from the distributor? Just plug that in, follow the directions, if I remember right then one of them goes to the negative side of the coil, one goes to the positive side, and the other goes to any place you want to ground it. Then attach the 12v power source to the positive side of the coil and you're done!

I would like to change my spark plugs and spark plug wires.
Do you suggest brand and model to me?

I allmost had your same setup but didnt get the "ready to run" dist i got the one that required the box as well.

As far as wires and plugs go i love NGK plugs and wires i was running MSD 8.5 super conducters so they matched the rest of the ignition lol i think ford racing makes good wires too.

I like the MSD wires that you cut yourself and crimp the terminals on because you can determine the length of each wire yourself according to your own needs or how you want your engine bay to look. For example, I wanted to use the Ford Racing billet spark plug wire loom and the special wires for my 69 Mach 1 were not long enough to go through the loom and still reach the distributor. I got the MSD universal wires and made them myself in about 45 minutes. But you can get any set of wires that are specific to your application as long as they are thick enough (the lower the gauge wire the thicker it is). As for the plugs, it depends on what cylinder heads you have and what your compression ratio is. Do you know if you have stock cylinder heads and pistons or if these have been replaced?

Ok. What engine?

There are several different engine codes for 1965:

U - 170 cid 1V 6 cylinder 101 hp (early 1965)

T - 200 cid 1V 6 cylinder 120 HP

F - 260 cid 2V V-8 164 hp (early 1965)

C - 289 cid 2V V-8 200 HP

D - 289 cid 4V V-8 210 hp (early 1965)

A - 289 cid 4V V-8 225 HP

K - 289 cid 4V V-8 271 HP
