What is your take on adding an msd system to my 87 stang gt. The only upgrades it has are minor intake mods and 9mm ford wires. I can get a good price and everything I need for a basic msd system like the coil, msd module, cap roter, adapters etc. My stangs a daily driver so as well as power upgrade Im also looking for mpg gain. How much would the system add in hp gain? Would it be worth it if its only a daily driver. I havent really raced it execpt on the highway against some poor rice burners or an mx8 here and there. So whats your opinion on the system? I can get the whole thing for about 250 which isnt bad. Let me know, thanks guys

Im pretty sure the stock ignition is strong until like 350hp. I mean yea the MSD will give you gains, just its not really cost affective. I would like to get a setup for my car, its just that I cant justify the purchase when I could get more power from other things you know.

No real hp in NA car but kinda good for force induction/supercharger due to blow out so if you are thinking about the future.

I have the full MSD setup on my carbed Daily Driven Mustang. 6a Box, Distributor, Blaster 3 Coil, 9mm MSD wires, and I love it. I dont know about a hp gain, but you wont have a problem with your car starting up when you turn the key. Everytime i start my car it fires right up. You can tell a difference while driving, and its great. I wouldnt trade my MSD for anything else. 250 isnt bad for the setup. I would go for it.

You might gain some hp, but probably not alot, if any. I know that when I put my crane system in, I the main thing I noticed was driveability, starts easier, idles a little better, ect.. I didn't put the system in until after my h/c/i.

power gain...no
improved combustion..yes
getting nitrous .... it's a must

overall worth it...most definitely

i mean if there other things your thinking of then , no

but it will burn better, start easier, and the engine will actually stay cleaner.

I had a 6AL on my'89 GT and my '92 GT. It really improve the throttle response and fuel mileage. I don't have one on my '95 cause I heard they weren't compatible?
