I am wiring up my MSD 6AL and 2 step in my 88 lx and ran into a bit of an issue.

I am wireing up the 2 step to get its 12v signal from my factory clutch switch and I found that the factory wired it in a diffrent order (battery, ignition switch, clutch switch, starter) than I had assumed (battery, clutch switch, ignition switch, starter). So what that means is I would get power to the 2 step only when I am starting the car, Usless!. I have two ideas:

rewire the car so it is in the order I though it was (so when ever the clutch is pressend it it has power). Big pain in rear.

or completly bypass the clutch switch for starting purouses (who honestly needs one of those anyways?) and wire it up to only operate the 2 step. I think I am goin to do this one, but there is one thing I am worried about. There is wireing in their for the computer to be able to dump codes, and I would like to keep that intact.

Anyone done this? I don't have the exact wireing diagram (I can't find it right now otherwise it would be easy) but there are two harneses going into the clutch switch and I am guessing one is for the computor and one is for the start fucntion

Come on guys I know I am not the only person in the world that has put a 2 step in a mustang. Why is it that I get very few or no one responds to my tech questions, but "guess my HP or ET" gets a million responces. That makes us look like ricers, sad.

Anyone at least have the wireing diagram for the clutch switch, I can figure it out from that.

There are very few people on Stangnet with good electrical skills.
There are even fewer that will tackle a problem that they cannot touch and see.
Electrical troubleshooting can be difficult and that is compounded by the
number of hands that have made "Modifications" to the factory system.

The neutral sense switch is different from the clutch safety switch.
The neutral sense switch connects pins 30 & 46 on the computer to enable
the Key On Engine Running part of the diagnostic self test.

The clutch safety switch prevents the starter from cranking the engine
unless the clutch is fully depressed.

Thank jrichker forf the diagrams

Just for a little update/FYI, it's really easy. While Ford wired it backwards its really easy to fix. There are two wireing harness going into the switch, one is for the computer (leave it alone) and one is for the starting lockout. unplug the starting locklout plug and short the two wires together (then you can start it without the clutch in, I had been planning on doing that for a while) get a new plug in fron the junkyard, wire one side to your igntion HOT and the other end to the relay that controls your 2 step.

pretty simple
