If you cannot get the drivers (not BIOS) to work, try the Win 8.1 drivers for this machine:

http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

It came from the factory with the AR5B22 that you have in the image there.

You need the Atheros Bluetooth driver and the Atheros WLan driver.

Edit: I see that doesn't post right. It's an Acer M3-581T. Pull it up and go to drivers. I'll look for a better link.

No... put the card in and boot up. It should either automatically load drivers or tell you that it has none and that you need to provide them.

If it self-installs drivers but the card does not work, you will need to force-install those drivers that I provided the links for.

Holler at me if you're not sure how to force-install in Windows.

Maybe I was not able to convey what happened earlier. When I shut the system down then replaced the old card with the new card, the system failed to even boot afterward. So it was never given the chance to self detect the card and install drivers like normal. @Noobz347

@Jinx

I've seen several complaints about the Atheros AR5B22 and various Acer 5s.

One suggestion that seems to have worked for many is a different model card: Atheros QCWB335 / Ebay / cheap as F.

On another note: I also see a lot of reports of DOA cards

Thanks. On another note, I was able to update the wife's laptop drivers, but the system still fails to see the 5 signal. Her system is newer than mine and should see it with no problem, but it does not. I plan on popping of the back of it this weekend to verify the card inside hers.

I may just say F it and forget this whole thing.
