I just had my tranny swaped out with a Truck AOD

It feels very similar to my Mustang AOD. What are the differences between the two?

I thought they were the same. I think ford put that thing in crown vics, stangs, birds and pickups in the 80's.

Yeah, I don't think there was anything special about the AOD back then. Maybe a few extra clutches, but I doubt it.

A-servo for the OD band (heavier duty) and maybe the truck tranny had the wide ratio kit installed for towing.

I think......

I'd like to know as well. I've never tried any other AOD aside from my van's and that thing doesn't seem to be as bad as everyone says it is. I can smoke both tires on that huge E150 (with raised fiberglass roof) very easily with a stock 87 5.0L

i have a 90 model truck aod and a 91 tbird aod. the only visual difference is the linkage rod that goes into the tranny. it is for a cable, and the truck used a rod that moves the shifter on the tranny. the other visual difference is the drilled and tapped hole that holds the cable down on the car trannies.
