This is a cut and paste from Todd on the Mustang II MA/Yahoo Group:

<<Okay, I'm bouncing this idea off of you all 2 years later.
Am I in the minority of Mustang II owners that want to be able to order
a Kevin Marti Auto report that tells production data including when my
car was built, what options were ordered, what dealership it was
delivered, the date it was ordered, bucked, completed assembly and
delivered? As well as how many Cobra II's like mine there are with the
same options?
Kevin Marti needs 200-300 emails from people willing to make a
committment to buy.
There are 517 members on this list, not including bouncing members.
I know there are a lot of lurkers, but We can make it happen.
If you never posted a message before, it doesn't matter. Just send a
message to
sales@martiauto.com <mailto:sales@martiauto.com>
Without all of our efforts, this will certainly be a lost cause.
Whoever posts on Stangnet please copy and post this message.

Todd>>

Everybody shout out, let's see if we can make this happen.

Today I received my Deluxe Marti Report on my '78 Mustang. I've never been 100% sure it was a King Cobra, it's a San Jose car with no buck tag evident anywhere on the car, all decals and stripes gone. It was always possible that someone just grafted the necessary parts onto the car. I'm happy to report that I have in my hand official confirmation that my car is indeed a King Cobra, one of 4971 King Cobras made. There's a ton of additional info on there, including the fact it was produced 31 days behind schedule (1/19/78 instead of 12/19/77), was sold new at Valley Ford in Yakima, WA (I bought it in Helena, MT back in 1994), was ordered as a stock vehicle rather than as a customer order, was shipped by Ford on 3/16/78 and sold on 4/1/78. All options on the car show as original, so it really was a nearly fully optioned car.

Now I've just got to finish rebuilding the 351W that lives in the engine bay, and drop that NOS '93 Cobra T-5 into place with the new custom brackets I just got, and my '78 King will be on the road again!

Anyone else who wants a Marti report for their II, give them a call at (623) 935-2558. They offer the deluxe report only for the II, and it took about 4.5 weeks to get mine. Best $45.00 I've spent!

Does this report give more info than the 999 report direct from Ford?

And does it give all correct information, unlike the 999 report?

I've gotten Marti reports for cars I've had in the past. They do give more info that the 999 report. They are also considered a valuable asset to any vintage Ford, as the "holy grail" of information on the car.

response to my email request:

Kcobra302,

We have received your email regarding reports for Mustang IIs. If you visit this link, http://martiauto.com/report-dlx.htm, you can see what we can offer now for the Mustang II. We have been licensed by Ford Motor Company with the entire production database for all 74-78 Mustangs (we have actually been licensed with much more - we currently offer reports for all 67-73 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles and will be offering reports for any vehicle from 1967 to 1995). Please note, we are only offering our deluxe report for the 74-78 Mustangs. Later, as we can adapt the system to do so, we will make standard and elite reports available. Also, you cannot use the online ordering form for this as it has not been set up to handle it. If you ignore this and try ordering online anyway (I can't believe I have to say this, but some people do not read), we will simply cancel the order out of the system. To order, you must call the number below and specify that you are ordering for a 74-78 Mustang II. Please also note that it will probably take 3-4 weeks for your order to be completed due to the technical issues involved in bringing all this data into the system. It is a very complex
computation task. We will not have anything else available for the Mustang II owners for at least half a year. Calling us and asking will not change that fact. Any customized data research will not be available for at least half a year.

If we see serious activity by a large group of people, we may consider offering a book like our current book, "Mustang. . . by the Numbers" (see http://martiauto.com/book-1.htm). Again, though, I must emphasize a book like this will not happen because a handful of people send lots of emails. It will only be considered if we see significant numbers of people ordering reports for their vehicles. Like you, I have a family of four kids and a wife and I am not independently wealthy. We offer services that we believe have a reasonable opportunity to provide a profit. Books require a huge
amount of upfront investment in time and money. We would be glad to offer such a book, but will only do so upon careful consideration of the potential to be able to sell over 500 copies. Anyone interested in helping this project along might consider getting Mustang II clubs to offer to purchase large quantities of the book. This is what the Cougar Club of America did and why we produced a "Cougar . . . by the Numbers" book.

If you desire to print this email in its entirety on any forum or website, please feel free to spread the word. We do like to make as much available to the Ford Mustang loyalists out there and Ford Motor Company has been a tremendous partner in making this possible.

Thank you,
Kevin Marti
