I guess its burning it or something. What all should I be looking for to fix this? I've had the timing belt replaced, pcv valve and some other things. Is my engine going to die soon? its got 109K miles. thanks
no drips that I can see. When I had my car serviced, the mechanic said its just burning oil. I'm not really sure what causes a car to burn oil. How much do compression checks usually run? thank you
also, which motor oil weight should I run? I'm in atlanta, ga and the coldest it gets is in the teens, but thats hardly ever. thanks again
a compression test is easy enough to do yourself. just need to buy the gauge.
oil for me i use 3 qts 10w-40 and 2 qts. 20w-50 (motorcraft oil) but that's cuz i have got a sticky lifter that clicks, but when i use this combo it doesn't.

Well the only things that come to my mind that causes a motor to burn oil is: that its got a broke piston ring(s), the cyl bore is wore out and the rings don't seal anymore, Leaky vavle seal, or bad pcv that is casueing the oil to get sucked into the motor and burned. This is just a small list and could be a number of other things I'm sure. I would think if you was burning oil you should be able to see smoke from the tail pipe(s) the color should be blue also. When you pull a plug off it to run a compression test, check out the plug and see what it looks like. I would also think if its burnning oil the plugs would look oily and bad, instead of the tan color they should be.
The 100+k on the car don't really matter to me as much as how it was taken care of, I got a 93' with 128k and hasn't been into yet and probly burns half a quart between oil changes.
like I said in the other thread use Valvoline Max Life, in the winter use 5W30 or 10W40 depending on how cold it consistently gets to, 10W30 in milder weather, and when temps stay above 50 during the day use 20W50.
If it's not dripping on the ground and it's not smoking BADLY then the ONLY other thing that could happen is that it's only leaking going down the road...and it's coating the bottom of your car and everybody that follows you.
