Im curious why everyone chose a 05 Stang, and is thier a story behind your choice?

For me Mustangs arent cars, they are members of the family. My folks bought a Lime Green coupe in 67. 289, PS, PB, A/C, AT. A member of my family has owned a Mustang ever since. My 05 is my 4th one. I had a 65, 81, and 88. All V8s, all Manuals, this is my first 6 and my first AT.

My dad was in the Air Force, so we got transfered every 2 years. Mostly in the south and west, I cant tell you how many times I have travered I-10 and I-40 in that 67 Mustang, I saw America from the back seat of that car.

In 81 they decided to sell the Mustang because they wanted a truck. They offered it to me, but I had a new 81, My younger brother had a 68 coupe so he didnt want it either. They drove down to the Chevy lot to look at trucks. A guy asked them if they wanted to trade the Mustang, my dad said no, he was going to sell it outright. They got to talking about the car, it was a one owner, never wrecked, never modded, never abused, it was in mint condition. The guy they were taking to turns out to be the owner of the lot. He wanted the Mustang for his sons HS graduation present. He offered my dad any 2wd 1/2 ton Chevy truck on the lot for the car. So my folks got a new 81 Silverado pickup for the Mustang. My dad paid $3400 for the car new in 67. 14 years use, and a new truck, that was a great $3400 investment.

I just retired from the military, my 05 is my retirement gift, I plan on keeping it for many years. I garage it and use my 88 GMC truck as my daily driver. A few appearence mods and thats all Im doing. For me detailing and spending time working on my car is just as much fun as driving it. I always wanted another 67, but Ive gotten lazy, I like the comforts of the newer ponys, so Im sticking with my 05.

I ordered the 06 mustang gt because of the whole package it offers. The 300 hp is nice, to me anyways and it looks really good. To be honest I never really cared for any of the previous models of the mustang. This car has actually got me interested into muscle cars in general.

I ordered an '06 Mustang GT coupe to replace my '98 Cobra coupe. I really like the new design, but the real beauty is underneath the skin. The longer wheelbase, minimal front overhang (ala 3-series), new suspension, more rigid chassis, and the redesigned all aluminum 4.6 3V engine, all wrapped up in an affordable package is what did it for me. The improved dynamics from better weight distribution (48/52) is nice as well. I paid more for my Cobra nearly eight years ago than I am for this car - what a value! ($27,300 vs $27,030)

I'm more excited about the GT than I am for the GT500. The weight gained over the front of the car from the iron 5.4 block and supercharger troubles me a bit. It will be plenty fast though...

:D
Great post....First car was a 65 Mustang 6 cylinder 3 spd...
Also just retired from 29 years of law enforcement....was buying a truck...test drove a Roush stage 1.....ordered a GT the next day.....still waiting ...on a truck between Detroit and home.....maybe soon

I had a 2001 V6 Mustang for a HS graduation gift and loved it even though it was a V6 and an Auto, but was missing the V8.

I was telling myself that I would keep this car and sell it in 2007 for a new cobra, or maybe I would just keep this car in storage or something and buy a new cobra anyway.

But I saw the 2005 and didn't like them much at first but it grew on me a lot and know I love them. My dad kept telling me I should buy one, buy one buy one... I kept telling him he should help buy it (im only 20 and still in school) but he wouldn't. Any way, I sold my 02 (sad day) and ordered an 06 GT 5sp a few weeks later.

And I'm going to keep this car long after it stops driving.

Heartfelt thanks to Twofocused, Johnnygreen, and Militarymustang for your service to our country.

My 05 vert is my 4th stang. Last one was back in 86, and I have had a few fun cars in between, but the new stang represents so many different things to so many owners it is hard to zero in on any one element.

The "package" wrapped in such a unique American skin is what sold me, and the fact that my 6'5" body fit in it so well.
