No, it's 80mpg actual on some kind of ethanol mix, but 100+mpg "equivalent" to if the car was running 100% gasoline.

I don't buy it either. Here is what I had to say on turboford.org:

65ShelbyClone said:
100mpg equivalent and he didn't even touch the aerodynamics of the car? Hell, it's even a Mustang coupe with that nice refrigerator-shaped roof line.

He would be lucky if it only took 20hp to maintain 55mph with that car. The BSFC of the engine would have to be around 0.18lb/hp/hr to hit 99mpg, assuming a gallon of straight gasoline weighs 6.5lb.

This is also ignoring the fact that he's using a stock block with a valley girdle. Oh, but the 500ft-lb engine will last forever that way. View attachment 312127

That and absolutely no details on how he's getting 100mpg.

He may have been driving 15 MPH and failed to include that bit of information in his press release. Getting the equalivalent of 100 MPG at 55 MPH is a major feat.

For those of you interested in the math that makes the 100 MPG claim look doubtful, see http://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine_technology/thermal_efficiency.htm

To top it off, the paint on that green car is tasteless.

Is there any proof of 100 mpg?

If not then my car should be on the news, I can get 100 mpg, and I will even open the hood and let the camera guy snap pictures of it.
