My 2011 Mustang shimmy saga beginning to today

is the shimmy only in the front end or is the whole car vibrating? Have they checked the axles in the diff and the driveshaft. If you cant get anywhere at the dealer then call ford, I know you want your car fixed but IMO with only 1200 miles on it you should of taken straight to the dealer and told them to fix it and now that they havent your next call should be to ford and try another dealer if one is close. Sounds like the techs at that dealer are clueless. I work at a dealer for a different brand no way I would just let something go like that. you talk to the service manager you probably need to drive them because they are not going to take your car that far past the speed limit. Also how much are you driving 80+ mphs for it to be that annoying? alot of interstate driving?

Mainly front end and felt through the steering wheel - you can see the rotational shimmy in the steering wheel when in SPORT mode.

I drive 80+ anytime I am on the highway. Now the shimmy happens even at 50mph in SPORT mode.

Yet another UPDATE –

Went back to the dealer and they found that the RF tire had a steel belt shifted through a hole in between an outer tread block, it caused the tread blocks around it to stick up higher than the rest.. It must have there for awhile as there was some decent tread wear in that area only. Nobody noticed this until today including myself, 4 tire shops and the dealer.

They just ordered a tire under warranty and I am back in the loaner.

I wonder if this will be the fix?

If this does not fix your problem I would be calling Ford and have one of there reps look at the entire car to find this problem.

UPDATE AGAIN -

Picked the car up with new tire - still the shimmy at 60mph in SPORT mode and they gouged the brand new wheel mounting the new tire, small marks but still ****ty on a new wheel.

The shop foreman said he took it to 80mph and it was smooth - sure when not in SPORT mode it is ok. He said "this car does not have a SPORT mode"

I think at this point we can rule out wheels and tires as the issue. I will be calling them back in the AM and requesting they escalate the issue to a district rep.

Did they do any re-flash. Also are you driving on the same road, I don't have a stang yet but my car goes crazy on some roads cause they are just bad. Also have you adjusted the PSI in your tires or possibly have on tire that leaks air?

Sport mode simply alters the ESC thresholds to allow for more aggressive driving before the ESC would normally kick in.
Are you sure you have the correct EPAS rack for your car, it is not unknown for the plant to screw up especially on the early builds when a lot of rework etc takes place to make the car saleable.
Publish your VIN and build date if you know it, I can telll you what it should have been built with.
If you got the wrong part and the wrong calibration it may be reason for your issue.

does the car shimmy at highway speed with the car rolling in neutral? if not, has anyone considered the driveshaft? balancing and they way it is "clocked" when it was bolted up can make a difference

my experience with these "shimmys" is try to imagine a bucket of water inside the car.....if you are getting a driveshaft/tranny issue you are going to see very fast vibration of the water...but nothing would slosh out. On the other hand, if you are getting more of a side to side rolling kind of shimmy that would slosh water out of a bucket, that probably indicates tires/and or rims out of balance/out of round. other issues is maybe check the front sway bar and make sure the bushings look good and nothing is loose....some idiot could have been pulling on the sway bar for whatever stupid reason
