My battery light has been poppin on and off every now and then, sometimes it stays on for a bit... I replaced my battery yesterday, because the car wouldnt start anymore, it was the original battery ( 7 years old ) . So i a new one in, and the car starts up and everything fine now.. but the battery light stilll is popping on.. I can disconnect the battery with the car running and the car still runs fine, so i no its not the alternator. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a short somewhere. What does the dumby gauge look like on the dash? Is is in the middle voltage wise? have you put a volt meter on the battery to see what it reads before startup and during? i had my battery go on the wifes 02 Explorer the other day. Went to the store and got a new one came home and installed it and the truck still wouldn't start. I thought WTF. I knew it wasn't the alternator because I could jump the truck and it would start. I checked the voltage on the new battery and it was deader than the old one. A volt meter should show at least 13 when the car isn't running. When you are starting the car if it drops to say like 7 or 8 the battery is toast.

i have an after market volt meter.. when i had the old battery in, it would read 13, but wen i turn the key, it would drop to 7 and no start, but now i put the new one in , reads 13 all the time, 14 wen car is running and starts fine, but battery light still comes on?
