my car has 39k miles on it and it suddenly feels sluggish when it launches. the car has 4.10s, an o/r x, flows, but yet it feels slow down low. i really have to get on it for it to move down low. i thought it was the oil and after i changed it, the car still feels slow. what can possibly be the problem?

the light comes on for the cats. i read somewhere to unplug the battery for awhile?

My 02 GT feels DAMN slow down low for me as well. Not sure what the problem is

I had the same problem (among others) at around the same mileage with my '02. I had the extended warranty, so I took it into the dealership.

First they took of the fuel filter & pounded it onto a white paper towel & a bunch of black crap came out of it. They said that it was a sign that the fuel pump was bad, so they replaced the fuel pump & fuel filter. After that it felt like a new car!

I'm not saying that I think that's your problem, but I had similar symptoms at that mileage in the same car.

Filter is about $13, pump I'm not sure.

Check/Replace air n fuel filter, then run some SeaFoam thru it.

I would agree, seafoam is da sh1t! Replace that fuel filter too...

Ford recommended a fuel pump and filter?!?! Of course they would...you're lucky that thing is under warranty! A fuel filter is like $10-$15. a fuel PUMP is like $250-300!!!

At 50k miles, my fuel pump better not be on its way out! (I do happen to have an 03 Cobra fuel pump though that my friend gave me....hmmm).
