could be a coil pack, injector, fuel filter, or the tps could be going bad. check and see if any codes are being thrown.

You can go to a local Auto Zone and ask Jesse James to to check for codes.

How many miles are on the vehicle?

Change out the spark plugs and wires...I had the same symptons a couple of weeks ago. I changed them out and quickly noticed the sputtering was gone.

I wouldn't worry too much about replacing the plug wires on your '02 . . . I'm out to look at the new '05 Oldsmobiles . . .

I'm having the a simular problem with my 98 GT. It's a steady miss while idling and becomes quite sporatic when on the throttle. Please post a reply when you figure this out. I've been through a new set of plugs replacing the wires now. I've also checked the engine comparment up and down for any loose connections or any hoses that may have come undone. This is really stumping me . Going ride to autozone to pick up a new fuel filter this afternoon. Oh and by the way, it's not causing the check engine light to come on.

Finally got time to swap out the wires. Definately can feel a difference. Idles faster, revs smoother, and pulls really hard. Drove the car a few miles on a test run after swapping the plugs and it starting the sporatic miss when in 5th and on the gas around 60mph. Other than that the stang is running fine again. Came back home from a freinds house (about 10 miles) and car did not miss a lick
